Ex-Chicago PD Lilly doesn’t call Earth her home. Now that space travel and planetary habitation is possible, she has found herself on Garalon Five, a place where ex-cons and fugitives can make a new start, and Lilly definitely has a secret. She now works as a Bounty Hunter, and she uses her special gift to reel them in. Lilly actually belongs to an ancient race and can control a male’s libido with just her touch. She is currently seducing an Ickbata, a not so nice alien, but one she needs to capture for credits.
Dallas Sawyer squashes her plans when he comes onto the scene thinking the attentions of the Ickbata are unwanted. Dallas is just happy to finally see a human female, and he soon is mesmerized by her beauty. Dallas works for the QAL, an organization formed to protect humans in space. Dallas’ goal is to capture an alien assassin before it has time to take out the new ambassador.
Unknown to him, this same assassin has a bounty on him – and Lilly wants to capture him badly. After a very sexy interlude, Dallas and Lilly go their separate ways only to run into each other very soon again. They now must work through their trust issues, before romance and catching bad guys can resume.
A Touch of Lily is definitely an erotic book, but I was happy with the substance of story surrounding these characters. Lilly doesn’t relish in having this sexual gift, but she has learned how to live with it, although her life is far from where she wants it to be. She is definitely attracted to Dallas, but she never knows if it is her sexual pull that brings Dallas in or if it is an honest attraction. Dallas is not someone to mess around with and takes his job very seriously. When Lilly ruins his plans to bring in his assignment, he doesn’t take her interference lightly. They are both stubborn and don’t give up easily. They stayed very true to their character throughout the book.
I also enjoyed Thaegan, Dallas’ partner and friend. Thaegan doesn’t trust Lilly at first and I enjoyed his reactions to her and his sarcastic interactions with Dallas really added a nice supporting character to the story. The sex in this book is plentiful and pretty hot. I would have liked a little more world building – there is so much to explore in the world that Nina Pierce introduces. I also felt a little let down by the ending but if you are looking for an erotic book that is balanced nicely with a solid story, I definitely say check this one out.
