Laurent Kinsdale is a 200 year old vampire still recovering from the death of his mortal beloved who died last year. When his lover fell ill, Laurent had to make the decision whether to turn him into a vampire, or just let him pass away. Although Laurent wanted to spend his immortal existence with him, he had a bad experience with turning a lover in the past. He turned Graham, who then turned out to be a very violent, monster of a vampire. Knowing he couldn’t let something like that happen again, he let his lover die.
A year later, Laurent is lonely, and has his eye now set on Sebastian FitzHugh. They meet at a ball, and immediately have eyes for one another. They start a very lustful physical relationship, all the while Laurent hides what he is. That is until Graham shows up, and wants to destroy Laurent’s happiness.
Lover Immortal is an erotic male/male novella, heavy on the erotic. I don’t think I ever fully believed in Laurent and Sebastian’s relationship. By the end of chapter one, they are already in the bedroom together and I wish we could have gotten to know the characters a little better. I had a hard time buying into Laurent’s feelings for Sebastian, as he drinks blood from him and then wipes his memory. Are his feelings sincere? If you really come to care for him, would you keep this secret? When Sebastian first sees Laurent’s fangs, he immediately asks if he is a vampire – although no one knows they exist. I don’t think this would be the first assumption out of his mouth.
Otherwise, the romance scenes are plentiful and we even go a little naughty into the spanking. Smexy spanking is always a plus. With a little more solid world building, I would have enjoyed this one more.

The beginning of your review had me drooling. This looked to be some heavy and hot stuff going on.
I'm confused about something though. You mention that Laurent ends up killing Graham after turning him, but then Graham shows up again. So Laurent thinks Graham is dead, but he's isn't?
Smexy spanking. lol.
Love the cover.

Hmm..what I meant is – Laurent turned Graham long ago – and Graham is not a "nice" vamp. He then decided NOT to turn his lover last year because he didn't want his lover to end up like Graham did. But now with a new mortal lover, the question of turning someone comes up again.

Ah! So after Graham, Laurent didn't want to turn his mortal lovers because of what happened with Graham?
The idea of an evil past lover coming to claim what he thinks is his has appeal.

Yes…I like this author's voice – I just wanted a little more depth to the relationship between Laurent and Sebastian. It looks like there will be a second book and I'll def check it out.

I liked the thought of a historical romance, plus paranormal subjects and it being an m/m romance…but it's disappointing to know that the main couple in this book jump into a relationship so fast before getting to really know them.
I will say that even though we don't know that vampires exist, if someone showed me they had fangs I'd ask the question. Maybe the reason he said "are you a vampire" is because they had fictional tales about them at that time too but didn't know they were real…

I'm like you. There has to be some character building in my m/m. I have to believe in the couple. I don't like erotic sex just for the sake of the sex. There has to be emotion behind it.
