Angela’s Monday Mornings

October 29, 2018 by Angela 2 Comments

What I read this week:

Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh
Guild Hunter #11
Urban Fantasy
October 30, 2018 by Berkley

I’m not sure how to review this book without giving away spoilers. Although I’m sure by now, most romance readers aware that Elena and Raphael are once again in the spotlight and have heard the ruckus over the cliffhanger ending.

Archangel’s Prophecy starts out slow and easy, readers are thrown right back into a familiar world. I always enjoy those first few chapters of reacquainting myself with beloved characters. Elena and Raphael are the very  heart and soul of this series so I never mind when they are the primary focus. This book moves the events of the next Cascade forward by having Elena go through a regression of sorts. Her body is changing, her mortality is returning and no one seems to know what to do about it. An angel of myth and wonder is whispering in her mind of prophecy and telling her that her time is near and she must prepare. She and Raphael are terrified and intend to fight and make their own future. And during all this Elena is working to uncover the identity of the person who attacked her brother-in-law.

So yes, there is a lot going on.

I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so I’m going to take this review nice and easy. I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and wasn’t really bothered by the cliffhanger. Although, I will say that now that I am absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in the series. I thought I was mentally prepared going into the last few chapters, because I absolutely knew something big was about to happen to Elena, but I soooooo wasn’t. Those last five or six chapters slayed me. I got choked up. Midnight, sitting in bed with my Kindle, and I was racing through page after page to see what would happen next.

This book changes everything. It had me wondering if Ms. Singh was maybe thinking of wrapping things up and moving toward a big finale. Other than Bluebell and Sparkle (who I still desperately want to end up together) all the rest of the Seven have found their true loves and have (mostly) settled down. I think with the events of Archangel’s Prophecy that the Cascade is moving closer and we will once and for all see Raphael and Elena defeat Lijuan. Might there be an end to the series in sight? Maybe?

One thing I do know, the next installment with almost definitely feature Elena and Raphael once again. I mean it almost has to. Which means that I will have to keep waiting to see if my beloved Bluebell will finally realize that the love of his life has always been the man who also happens to be his longest and closest friend. That’s fine, I’ll wait.

Final Grade- B+

My TBR:

Beautiful Sinner by Sophie Jordan– This is book #5 in the Devil’s Rock series. This series is hit or miss for me, so let’s hope this is a hit. Review to come next Monday.

The Grimm Files: The Long Goodnight by Selene Charles– I enjoyed the first book in the series and am kind of excited to get back into this world. Release date is October 29th and will be available on Amazon and in KU.

Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox by Forthright– I’ve had this on my want list for a while, so when it went on sale a couple of weeks ago I one-clicked immediately. I’ll be talking about it next Monday.
