Smexy’s Top Six–January 7th

January 7, 2011 by Mandi 25 Comments

6. That’s right – I’m starting the New Year off with a top ten FAIL. I wasn’t prepared for a top ten list today! I have my excuses – I haven’t posted one in two weeks so I forgot. School was delayed for one snowflake falling so the kids distracted me. Maybe the real reason is because I have been sitting in my new hot tub all day and night oblivious to the world around me? Yes, my hot tub is no longer sitting upright in my driveway! It is wired! Full of hot, steamy water! So what if it is 22 degrees out and icicles form on your ears! I’m paying a lot of money to keep that thing heated. (Which will be my new complaint for 2011 – LOL)

5. The first thing I bought after Christmas is the Lighted Kindle Cover to go with my new Kindle 3 (which I love!!) First of all, the cover is nice and thick and makes me feel safer about repercussions if I drop it. See # 3. Second, the light is really bright – powered by your kindle when it is on. The light easily slides into the case when you don’t want to use it. I’ve had a couple of friends recommend it, and so far it is definitely worth the money!

4. I’m so excited for The Perilous Prophecy of Guard and Goddess by Leanna Renee Hieber (Releases in May). It is a prequel to her Percy Parker books. (A series which I adore). Go HERE to see the book trailer.

3. Speaking of dropping things *ahem* I dropped my phone (AGAIN) on 12/23, in my kid’s classroom no less, so I couldn’t even curse. Instead of my screen cracking, the button fell off that allows me to navigate my phone. I gave hubs lots of spiked eggnog before I told him. He ordered another piece and fixed it for me, but then I promptly ordered the Otterbox Defender Case. The thing is HUGE. And UGLY. But I think I could drop my phone off a five story building and it wouldn’t even leave a dent. Maybe…just maybe I will go more than a month with my phone intact.

2. Tori recently posted her “Most Ancitpated Reads” for 2011 which just gets me all jittery. I can say my next few highly anticipated reads are:

Shadowfever – January 18th.
Archangel’s Consort – January 25th
Dreams of a Dark Warrior – February 15th
This Side of the Grave – February 22nd
River Marked – March 1st
Lover Unleashed – March 29th

I can’t believe we only have 11 days until Shadowfever. I just finished my reread of Dreamfever last night and I am wired!!.I had forgotten SO much in that book!!

After Shadowfever, my MOST anticipated read of 2011 is Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh (Hawke’s book out May 31st.)

1. This weekend we are having my son’s 7th birthday party at a place that has laser tag, bumper cars and mini golf. It should be fun! I am also starting My Immortal Assassin by Carolyn Jewel. Happy Friday!

I'm all about protective gear for my gadgets. Heaven forbid that I go more than 24 hours without droping my phone/iPod/Kindle.

Oh, laser tag – your son should enjoy that! My company introduced me to laser tag when we did a team building exercise – most awesome being able to repeatedly shoot my boss and his harpy assistant without involving blood, cops, or jail :-)

Yay, I'm glad you like your lighted cover since I recommended it. I'd feel really bad (for a sec) if you didn't :) Glad you got super protection for your poor phone too lol.

Look at the Most Anticipated list. OMG I get the sweats just looking at the list. What am I going to be like when these books are finally released?

    Happy Friday Mandi and Tori!

What?! River Marked has been pushed back? How did I not know this?! What kind of blogger am I?! @-@
And your phone, even though it is now a little chunky, it really is for the best. ;)
    Happy Weekend!

I'm going to have to look into the cover with the light for the kindel!

As for anticipated reads for 2011 I will completely agree with Shadowfever! I also am very pumped up for the discussion of Dreamfever, I know we are all getting really antsy and excited about the discussion and for 1/18!!

I can't wait for those books, either. I think I squeed a little over Angel's Consort and Hawke's book. Eeeek!

I have the lighted cover too and I love it. I can read at bed when my husband sleeps next to me :)

Already pre-ordered Shadowfever to my Kindle. My first pre-order to it – I can't wait!

I love lazer tag, but haven't played in years! Damn those good ol' days. ;) Sounds like the party will be load of fun.

And yup, those Otterboxes are pretty freaking ninja. My friend ran over his Otterbox protected phone with his car just to show off how durable they are. True Story.

I'm with you on those highly anticipated reads! Any day now. *drums fingers annoyingly*

    Yeah on the hot tub!!!

Maybe you need to get a phone case with lanyard combo. Might look a bit geeky, but it would fix the repetitive dropping issue.

I've heard great things about the Otterbox.

I love that case you have. I recently bought the Kindle 3 and the cover. The cover is definitely heavy duty. weighs more then the kindle so hopefully that translate into better protection for the kindle!=)

Love your 2011 pick. I am eager for the books on your list! I miss Bones, Barrons and Adam!

YAH for a hot tub in the cold weather to soak away the stress!

And…speaking of iPhones, I'm taking my in to get replaced tomorrow as I keep getting 'no service' :( And if I didn't already have a case I'd be eyeing up your one stat!

Our "most anticipated reads" are the same: Shadowfever and Kiss of Snow!! That just makes me like you/your site even more, haha. The wait is torture for both! Luckily, I just began the Fever series recently, so I didn't have to endure the utter torture for this last book to come out as long as others have. There's soooo many things I want to know! Love JB & Hawke!! Other than that, I'm eager for Archangel's Consort. Love me some Raphael too! :)

I just finished Dreamfever this morning, and I am so upset.. that I have to wait! I probably should have waited to finish it closer to next Tues. I'm so excited that I've started dreaming about Shadowfever!
