A Christmas to Remember Blog Tour: Day 11 *Giveaway*

Christmastoremember1[5][11]

We are counting down to the release of the anthology, A Christmas to Remember, featuring Jill Shalvis, Kristen Ashley, Hope Ramsay, Molly Canon and Marilyn Pappano. Yesterday, they stopped at Fiction Vixen and told us their twelve favorite gifts. Today, they are telling us their eleven worst or funniest gifts.

1) The worst was the first Christmas we were married, when my mother-in-law gave me a sexy sheer black nightie with teeny-tiny matching panties. If that wasn’t bad enough, I was seven months pregnant at the time! (Marilyn)

2) One year I received one of those contraptions that yanked the hair out of your legs with coils. It hurt like a son of a gun, and I soon decided it wasn’t for me. I decided it would be a perfect gift for my older sister! She passed it on the next year to our younger sister. After that it would show up as a surprise for somebody. It has disappeared- I’m not sure where it ended up, but it was good for a laugh. (Molly)

3) Second funny gift- One year a relative made us a big wooden contraption, and we weren’t sure if it was a spice rack or a record holder. We used it for a spice rack, but I always worried he might come to visit and would ask why we weren’t using it to hold records. Alas it was lost when our house burned down so I don’t have to worry about it anymore! Silver lining! (Molly)

4) A shoe tree to help me organize my (apparently messy) closet. (Hope)

5) Underwear in my stocking. (Hope)

8) It wasn’t a funny gift, but I did something stupid with it so everyone thought it was funny…that being, me getting a bottle of perfume, getting excited, spritzing it into the air and running through it – with eyes open. I nearly blinded myself Christmas morning! (Kristen)

9) When we were kids, each of us got a mustard yellow hard side suitcase from my Mom. Mustard yellow! It was the waning time of the Brady Bunch, of course,  but I look back at those pictures of me hugging my hideous mustard yellow suitcase and giggle myself sick. I was so proud. Yikes. (Kristen)

10).   Once I asked Alpha Man for an overnight trip, just us.  I was thinking somewhere warm, maybe even with a beach, drinks, and room service.  What I got was tickets to the NCAA finals.  Note to self: be more specific (Jill)

11).   My favorite presents are always plants.  But unfortunately I kill them.  So one year my family bought me a huge, fake plant.  Only they didn’t tell me it was fake.  I watered that thing every day until it molded.  Yes, I’m still living down the fact that I killed a fake plant, thank you very much. (Jill)

My aunt once bought me this knitted thing. It had a hole for your head, and was rectangular but not symmetrical…

Molly’s #2 was my #1! It was returned for something infinitely more useful, but regrettably forgotten! The things you learn here…Jill killed a plastic plant! (Kinda serves her right for not appreciating the NCAA finals.) Thanks for the giveaway.

Thanks for the giveaway! I think the weirdest gift I ever received was a couple of packages of cookies from a family member who told me she heard that we couldn’t get those cookies near where I lived…which made no sense to me since they were Stella D’Ora cookies…and really, this is what I needed for a Christmas present, why not a bottle of wine?!!

Some of the worst gifts I received were from my cousin who gave out trinkets she bought in Job Lot.

I was in college and had a reasonably good body image, but with the occasional doubt. My brother thought that he was being helpful to by me a thigh exerciser. Not really what I wanted to see on Christmas morning.

The worst was the year my mother in law gave me huge canvas storage bags for the garage. Really, really thoughtful, huh?

    Thanks!

Well, it wasn’t my own gift, but my husband’s. After we were married, his mother sent him socks & underwear for Christmas. I told him he was married now, so that was my job!

There was the year that my sister got two of the same item in two different colors. We thought it was strange. Later my mother told me that one was supposed to be mine. The sad thing is, I can’t even remember what the item was anymore.

The funniest Christmas gift I remember was actually my sister’s. An aunt sent her this sweater that had a whole winter scene on it with pine trees and woodland creatures. I believe my sister lived and worked in New York at the time and the look on her face had me laughing for a while.

last year I gave some very nice gifts but I put them in some boxes that were printed like they contained some very tacky items – I made everyone open them at the same time and they were trying to be polite as they saw what was printed on the box – they were very relieved when they saw what was actually inside. I’m going to use the boxes boxes again this year for the rest of the family.

Mine is actually a best gift, but it is funny. My dad gave me a Furby last year for Christmas. He told me that as a child I really really wanted one but they were so popular the Christmas that I wanted it that he wasn’t able to get one. So, now, 15 years later, they are popular again, and he got me one. And he said, “Now I have give n you everything you have ever wanted in life!.”

    Thanks for the giveaway

Great giveaway. Funniest gift I got was from a grab bag at work –
I got a little statue that had a man sitting on a toilet with fuzz on the seat and it said something like you have it really easy.

From my first serious boyfriend I got a pearl jewelry set; ring, bracelet, necklace, earrings. I was 22 at the time so getting something that my grandmother would wear was not so thrilling :)

The worst gift was only the worst for about a minute. My husband-then- boyfriend gave me a hand mixer. (insert sarcastic YAY!) Since I was raised right, I of course thanked him politely for it. He said he couldn’t believe I would actually think that was really “the” present! He then gave me my “real” presents of earrings & a stereo system.

One of my funniest, yet sweetest, gifts was from a little Cambodian girl in my kindergarten class. She gave me a cheap framed picture of Elvis! Elvis was the king, after all! :-)

My grandma gave me sexy lingerie she got for her wedding (and never used), so it is antique and floor length lace nightgown and robe. But it was a bit weird opening the gift in front of the whole family ;-p
