Still doing the Scenic Sunday countdown to Ruby Fever! Only two more Sundays to go! I am not a patient person and cliffhangers are my one big no-no. Therefore, I binged Sapphire Flames, Emerald Blaze, and an arc of Ruby Fever in July and honestly, it was the best decision I ever made for myself, holding off on reading the first two books until I had the 3rd one firmly in my grasp. In this week's Scenic Sunday countdown to Ruby Fever, we bring you a scene from the first installment of Continue Reading
Scenic Sunday- Wildfire by Ilona Andrews
Still counting down until the release of Ruby Fever! 3 more Sundays! Next week will start the Catalina/Alessandro lovefest, but first here is some more Nevada and Connor. I have several favorite scenes in this book... when Mad Rogan takes on the first Madero brother and after beating the crap out of him, warns him to forget Nevada's name. Of course, his family doesn't. This leads to one of my other favorite scenes... when Leon discovers what his magic is in the hospital parking lot. I even Continue Reading
Review: Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan
Thank You for Listening by Julia WhelanWomen's FictionAugust 2, 2022, by Avon Review by Melanie First, let's get this out of the way: I hate the term women’s fic. No need to dismissively label an entire genre just because it focuses on a female protagonist’s journey. Just call it fiction. We’re not going around labeling Franzen as men’s fic, are we? (Wait, ARE we?!?) So, yes, while I have labeled it as women’s fiction per the publishing industry standards, please let it be known that I Continue Reading
Scenic Sunday- White Hot by Ilona Andrews
Hi! The Scenic Sunday countdown to Ruby Fever continues! Only four Sundays until the next Hidden Legacy releases and the finale to Catalina and Alessandro's story is here! I had a hard time picking a favorite scene in White Hot. This is the book where Nevada and Rogan admit they love each other amidst some harrowing, life-threatening situations. In the end, there was one scene I kept coming back to and that's what you have today. Enjoy! The door swung open and I saw Rogan standing in his Continue Reading
Review: You Were Made to Be Mine by Julie Anne Long
You Were Made to Be Mine by Julie Anne LongThe Palace of Rogues #5Historical RomanceJune 28, 2022 by AvonARC Review by Angela The Palace of Rogues by Julie Anne Long is currently one of my favorite ongoing historical romance series, so I was beyond excited to find out there would be another new release coming out this year. I feel like this book gives off that same cozy, found family feeling as the previous installments while at the same time having darker content and themes. When the Continue Reading
Review: The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian
The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat SebastianHistorical RomancePublished June 7, 2022 by AvonReviewed by Kate I had some trouble getting through The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes. While I enjoyed it overall, the story struggled with pacing issues. The correspondence between Marian and Rob in the beginning of the book drew me in. However, when it moved on to the action, it started with a bang, but then kind of meandered all the way to the end. The story feels somewhat disjointed and Continue Reading
Scenic Sunday- The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
This is still one of the most charming, fun historical romances I've ever read. Chase's wards are a hoot: "Rosamund, it's time you learned a harsh lesson." He opened the nursery door. "We don't always get what we want in life."Didn't Chase know it. He didn't want to be guardian to a pair of orphaned girls. He didn't want to be next in line for the Belvoir dukedom. And he most assuredly did not want to be attending his fourth funeral in as many days. Yet here he was. Daisy turned to them. Continue Reading
Review: The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa
The Wedding Crasher by Mia SosaContemporary RomanceApril 5, 2022, by AvonARC Review by Angela This was one of my most anticipated releases in 2022. The first book featuring this cast of characters, The Worst Best Man, cracked me up. Seriously, I was laughing out loud at work and sneak reading between clients. I could not put it down. Inject that kind of romantic comedy straight into my veins. The Wedding Crasher features Solange Pereira and Dean Chapman, cousin to the FMC and best Continue Reading
Scenic Sunday- Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean
This is one of my very favorite historical romances. I reread this book so often I think I've memorized whole chapters. This is the scene that leads to Callie and Ralston having smex for the first time. I also love the scene immediately after when Callie is furiously cleaning the library and Ralston comes to ask for her hand in marriage and she says no... which is like ten pages so you'll just have to go read it for yourself. 😊 This book is also getting a new cover for its paperback Continue Reading
Review: Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma
Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha SharmaIf Shakespeare was an Auntie #1Romantic Comedy/Contemporary RomanceMarch 15, 2022, by Avon and Harper Voyager Review by Kate H. For me, one of the best things about Dating Dr. Dil was that as a romantic comedy, the humor was in the situation and the snark, and not in the characters. Both main characters are fully drawn and easy to identify with, even when I didn’t agree with them. Kareena Mann is a thirty-year old who provides legal counsel to women Continue Reading
