Review: Better Than People by Roan Parrish

August 27, 2020 by Melinda 1 Comment

Roan Parrish writes some of the best mental health rep there is in all of romance and Better Than People is no exception. The meet cute in this book is super cute as Jack has an accident in the beginning of this and needs to find someone to exercise is sizable dog pack - and one cat - for him. He finds Simon on an app where people are seeking pets to walk or cuddle because they can't have them for one reason or another. I liked this take on the app hookup idea. One of my only quibbles with Continue Reading

Hump Day Excerpt: Can’t Help Falling by Cara Bastone

August 26, 2020 by Kini 2 Comments

Today we have an excerpt from Can't Help Falling by Cara Bastone, available now. Cara's debut Just a Heartbeat Away was out in June and will be on my list of favorites of 2020. I think her voice is fantastic and is a new auto-buy/read author for me. Here's the blurb for Can't Help Falling. The more you resist, the deeper you’ll fallSerafine St. Romain doesn’t need her psychic powers to know she’s no longer in Tyler Leshuski’s good graces. True, she did tear him to pieces when he asked Continue Reading

Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy #5 Urban Fantasy Romance August 25, 2020 by Avon ARC Favorite Quote: "How did you even find me?""I will always find you," he said. "I told you, Catalina. I won't abandon you."He said it with complete sincerity, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He'd come for me. Even if the thing dragged me into the river, he would find it, kill it, and pull me out. If the Abyss took me into the Pit, Alessandro would follow and bring me out. Continue Reading

DNF Friday- Four Titles I Started but Didn’t Finish

August 21, 2020 by Kini 9 Comments

I am pretty selective about the books I read and over the years have really been able to identify books that will most likely work for me. I don't take a lot of chances any more. But even when I pick books I am pretty sure I am going to like them, but these four books did not work for me. And that is okay. Not every book has to be for every one. The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham- I had such high hopes for this book. It seemed like several of my friends were RAVING about it. But I resisted it Continue Reading

Angela’s Minis- Reviews for books by Suzanne Park and Charlie Donlea

August 20, 2020 by Angela Leave a Comment

Loathe at First Sight by Suzanne ParkContemporary Romance/Women's FictionAugust 18, 2020 by AvonARC Maybe I read the blurb wrong, but I was kind of expecting an enemies to lovers romantic comedy when I requested this book for review. That is not what this book is, at least not the 25% I read. I'll be honest when I tell you that I didn't like any of these characters. Not a one. The main character, Melody Joo, is a woman working in the gaming industry and excited for the opportunity to Continue Reading
