Juggling two book series at once is a bit of a crazy-making experience, especially when it comes time to promote the new series and introduce it to readers. Especially in introducing the MetaWars series to the readers of my Dreg City series. MetaWars is both similar and different, and I’m very excited to offer it to the world.

Trance (MetaWars, #1)

Blurb:

Kelly Meding’s war-ravaged Los Angeles is ground zero for the ultimate Meta human showdown in this sexy, action-packed new series.

Fifteen years ago, Teresa “Trance” West was a skilled telepath and a proud member of the Ranger Corps. But ever since the Rangers were inexplicably rendered powerless at the climax of the devastating Meta War, she’s bounced from one dead-end job to another. Now her powers have reappeared just as mysteriously as they vanished— only they’re completely transformed and more potent than ever. And they’re threatening to destroy her.

Trance heads to Los Angeles to track down the surviving Rangers and discover who restored her powers—and why—but a phantom enemy is determined to kill them before they can reassemble. As they dodge his deadly attacks and come to terms with their new role as heroes, Trance and the rest of the team set out to annihilate the sinister madman . . . only to discover their own powers are his greatest weapons.

It occurred to me that, instead of me introducing the individual new characters to readers, I’d let other characters do that for me. And not just any characters—the Dreg City characters will be doing brief one-on-one interviews of the MetaWars characters. And if you haven’t read either series yet, or haven’t even heard of me, then I hope these Interviews will at least pique your curiosity.

Today Wyatt Truman, hero of the Dreg City books, will be interviewing Gage McAllister, hero of the first MetaWars book TRANCE. What follows is a transcript of their interaction, which includes five pre-written questions, and then a final statement from Gage.

If you have any questions for either character, feel free to ask them in the comments section!

Enjoy!

*after several moments of complete silence*

Wyatt: So we should do this.

Gage: All right.

W: This was not my idea.

G: I know that.

W: Good. Then the first question is, who are you and what do you do?

G: I’m Gage "Cipher" McAllister, twenty-nine years old. I was born in Los Angeles, California. I’m six-foot—

W: This isn’t a personals ad, Mr. McAllister.

G: Sorry. And it’s Gage. As for what I do, that’s a complicated question. For a while I was Ranger Corps trainee, then I was a high school student, did some carpentry for a few years, and was a corrections officer after that. Now I suppose I’m a Ranger again.

W: And for folks who don’t know what a Ranger is?

G: We’re superheroes. We’re the good guys.

W: Question two is, what do your Meta powers do?

G: I have hyper senses. Eyesight and hearing are the two most powerful, with smell coming in a close third. I used to be very good at controlling the amount of sensory input I allowed in, but I’m a little out of practice. It’s coming back to me, though.

W: Those sound extremely useful for gathering information and investigating crimes.

G: I guess they would if I was a detective. They aren’t always useful in an actual fight, but they’ve come in pretty handy before and after.

W: I believe it.

G: Don’t you have some kind of magic power, too?

W: I suppose I do. I can summon inanimate objects to me. It’s a kind of magical telekinesis.

G: Sounds handy in a fight.

W: It can be. But moving onto question three, do you have a love interest? If yes, who? If no, why not?

G: *clears throat* That’s complicated.

W: It always is when women are concerned. But at the end of the day, you love her or you don’t.

G: It’s not that simple.

W: Of course it is.

G: Trust me, it’s not.

W: If you say so, pal.

G: Can we move on, please?

W: You didn’t answer the question.

G: It’s as answered as it’s going to get. Next question?

W: If you could be anything other than a superhero, what would you be and why?

G: *silence*

W: Okay, I’m getting glared at, so we’ll just skip to the last question and put us both out of our misery. Who is the one person you most want to have look at you and say they’re proud?

G: I wouldn’t mind one day looking into a mirror and being proud of myself.

*after much noise*

W: Okay, Gage has left the interview. Which is okay, since it was technically over, I guess. *pause* That was…fun….

END

Thanks Kelly! Trance, the first book in her new MetaWars series releases October 25th.

Well, I would be one of the people never having heard of and read your books. But the concept sounds original, so I will put it on my wishlist. Thanks for the fun post Kelly.

Haven’t read either of the books yet, but really enjoyed the “interview” – I always find those hysterical between two characters like that. On my way over to check out the books now …
