AAD Spotlight: Carolyn Crane and Giveaway

December 5, 2011

AAD, Carolyn Crane

Head Rush (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #3)Time for another Authors After Dark spotlight. Today it is Carolyn Crane! The final book in Carolyn Crane’s, Disillusionist trilogy, Head Rush comes out tomorrow! A favorite urban fantasy series of mine. I met Carolyn at this year’s Author’s After Dark convention and had so much fun chatting with her.

As I have been asking many of the authors which character they would take with them to New Orleans, here is Carolyn’s answer:

If you could pick one of your characters to go to New Orleans with you, who would you pick and what would you do?

Hey Mandi! First, thanks so much for having me over here. Happy pre-AAD!!….Hmm, that sounds like a disease.

“It’s so very sad. They’ve diagnosed her with Pre-AAD! It’s all downhill from here! All insanity and mayhem, and then the parties, followed by a swift decline into revelry over smutty books!”

Okay, I thought about your question as I made soup tonight. The most obvious answer is Simon, my reckless roustabout character who loves to gamble and do wild things and get into trouble.

But, in real life, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with Simon. My idea of fun is going to bed early with a book, or – if I am feeling quite extravagant – eating soup while watching Star Trek. So in my mind, I thought of other characters I’d want to go with. I thought about saxophone-playing Vesuvius, or even Sophia, who I have a soft spot for. Or Justine, but…no.

I kept coming back to Simon. I think Simon would pull a girl like me out of my librarian-like shell, which I suppose is proper for New Orleans. He would get me to eat and drink too much, lose all my money, go crazy for the music, eventually we’d likely be running naked through the streets carrying thermoses of Long Island Ice tea and wads of shiny beads. But what the heck, it seems fitting. So, Simon!

Simon would be SO much fun to run around New Orleans with!!!

Carolyn is also giving away a book today! Your choice of either a signed copy of Mind Games (book 1) or Double Cross (book 2). Open internationally through December 7th.

About Mandi

Mandi lives two lives. One at home with a hubs and two boys. Another surrounded by romantic happily ever afters and sometimes if she is feeling daring, a dangerous urban fantasy world. She has collected numerous fictional boyfriends along the way that keep her quite busy. While she has many favorite authors, on her auto-buy list currently are Courtney Milan, Cara McKenna, Ilona Andrews, Nalini Singh, KA Mitchell, Jim Butcher and Kaki Warner....just to name a few.

I’d choose Packard….seems like we would have a low key but thoroughly enjoyable time. I love to watch people like Simon though. From a discreet and safe distance.

I’ve been meaning to get started on this series since Mind Games came out, but just haven’t had a chance to yet. It would be awesome to win a copy of it to get me started. Simon sounds like a fun guy to go to New Orleans with.

Love the interview. I think Simon sounds like the perfect character to bring to New Orleans. After all, what better place to run around covered in beads than in NOLA!

That’s exactly what I need. Someone to pull me out of my shell. Otherwise, I’d just sit in my hotel room and read. Would love to win a copy of Double Cross, since I already have Mind Games.

I would hit New Orleans when my kids are older. Diapers and long distance, are not so exciting right now.
