Guest Author Nalini Singh and Giveaway!

June 2, 2014 by Mandi 57 Comments

We are happy to have Nalini Singh stopping by Smexy today to talk about her book that releases tomorrow, Shield of Winter. Sheena and I have had a sneak peek at this book and it’s really good! We’ll be posting our review tomorrow. Today, Nalini has some words about Arrows….

naliniArrows
Nalini Singh

I always knew I would one day write about the Arrow Squad, but I never expected what I would find when I peeled back the layers of these dangerous men and women.

To be an Arrow is to be a shadow, to live on the fringes of society. Arrows hunt the worst elements of the Psy race—the psychopaths and the serial killers, the depraved and the evil. Yet, as Ivy Jane says in Shield of Winter, for this they are pushed to the edges of society and looked upon with fear.
The Arrows themselves, however, see their shadow existence as inevitable—after all, they are deadly, should be feared.
On the other hand, they are aware their mandate was perverted by those they trusted. Their previous leadership took the squad’s incredible capacity for loyalty and squandered it in the pursuit of power.

It’ll take someone of incredible strength to break through the wall that now encases the squad, a wall that is ten times as strong in Vasic.

How does a woman reach a man who believes he is beyond redemption?

Well, when that woman is an empath, she simply refuses to accept that to be an Arrow is to walk always alone. Strength comes in many forms—and while Ivy Jane might never be able to take Vasic in a physical fight, her emotional core is made of steel. It’s a case of impenetrable Arrow black slamming up against immovable empathic will.

Game on.

Do you enjoy dark and dangerous heroes? Who are your favorites?

Yay, can’t wait to read Shield of Winter and meet Vasic and Ivy! I love dark and dangerous heroes. I think it because they act alpha and wouldn’t take “no” as answer, yet they will respect their women, especially if those women have a strong willed. Some of my favorite dangerous heroes are created by you Ms Singh ;)

I am so excited!!! This almost makes up for my five night shifts in six days! Thank goodness my day off falls where I will have enough time to devour Shield of Winter (and still get some sleep, I hope). I have already pre-ordered, so don’t enter me in the contest :)

Love this series. D&D heroes are best when they have a shred of humanity at their core…it’s something about their view of the world that makes them richer more 3-dimensional than some other romance genre heroes.

I’ve been waiting for this book so long I’ve developed PRAD: pre-release anxiety disorder! :P PRAD has been so bad that I haven’t been able to read or think of any other books! Once diagnosed, there is no cure save to read the book. Then the symptoms go dormant like chicken pox; able to sneak up on you at any time.

In other words: I NEED THIS BOOK! :)

Dark and Dangerous? But of course! Some that come to mind are Zsadist from BDB, Lothaire from IAD, and Singh’s very own Kaleb Krychek.

I’ve been looking forward to learning more about the Arrows and Vasic in particular since Caressed by Ice.
