Galentine’s Day is a fictional day created by Leslie Knope (aka Amy Poheler, star of Parks and Rec). It’s a day to celebrate the girlfriends in your life and I thought this day goes perfectly with Victoria Dahl’s new book, Flirting with Disaster.
I only watch Parks and Rec occasionally, so I’m incredibly grateful to Mandi for clueing me in to Leslie’s “Galentine’s Day.” It’s a chance to celebrate before Valentine’s Day with your gal friends, and I think it’s a spectacular idea.
Let’s be honest, if you have a partner, you love that partner. You probably say “I love you” quite a bit. You’re intimate. You do cute things for each other. You cuddle. Hopefully you have super hot sex. But these aren’t things you typically do with your best girlfriends. (Girlfriend girlfriends excepted if you have them.) So frankly, I think Galentine’s Day would actually be more useful. Say the things you never say. Do it with hearts and candy. Girlfriend candy!!! You know that would be some high-quality candy.
Now I don’t know about you, but my best friends and I are more likely to convey affection with curse words than with flowery language. And that’s the way it is for my heroines in the Girls’ Night Out series, too. It’s tough love and dirty jokes all around, but I managed to come up with ideas for a few Galentine’s greeting cards using actual dialogue from the books. I hope you enjoy! And feel free to forward to your favorite women. :-)
There’s no hiding from sizzling chemistry…
Artist Isabelle West has good reasons for preferring a solitary life. Tucked away in a cabin in the woods, she has everything she needs…except a red-hot love life. That is, until a hard-bodied US marshal threatens to unearth secrets she’s spent years protecting. But giving in to the sparks flying between them can only lead to one thing…disaster.
Tom Duncan lives by the letter of the law. But no one has tempted him—or confused him—more than free-spirited Isabelle, who arouses his suspicion and his desire. As their connection grows, and their nights get hotter, they find their wild attraction might shake everything he stands for—and expose everything she has to hide.
Bonus Girls’ Night Out novella, Fanning the Flames, included!

When I read a Harlequin I know I’ll have a satisfying read – probably a chuckle and maybe a tear – and end up with a smile.

I have been reading Julia London, Sarah McCarty, Sara Arden, and Victoria Dahl’s books for quite some time now. When the Holidays come around, I’m also on a look out for their books.
Harlequin also introduces new authors that I’m not familiar with like Lynda Aicher, Cathy Gillen Thacker, and Lissa Manley. They do know how to choose new authors and they are as enjoyable as the authors I’m familiar with.
