I Read What?

April 10, 2009 by Mandi

I found this question/answer over at Alpha Heroes (a really cool blog!). I usually avoid these kind of things when I get them on email or facebook, but this is about books – how can I resist?

1. What author do you own the most books by?
I just got out of my chair to count *g*. Sherrilyn Kenyon – I own 19 Dark/Dream Hunter books and two Kinley MacGregor books. JD Robb’s Naked in Death and LKH Anita Blake are a close second and third.

2. What book do you own the most copies of?
Just one copy of each book.

3. What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Character? As in, just one??? Going to have name top five – Barrons (KMM fever series), Clay (Singh’s Psy series), Vishous (Ward’s BDB), Jean-Claude (LKH Anita Blake), Adam (Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series).

And seriously – it is no secret:)

4. What book have you read more than any other?
Any book in JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood. Close second would be the Fever series KMM.

5. What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
I have no idea..I use to like Nancy Drew..but is that what you read when you are ten? Mom, leave a comment and say what book I liked as a kid (this will tell me if she is actually reading my blog *g*)

6. What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year?
Breaking Dawn – Stephanie Meyers

7. What is the best book you’ve read in the past year?
I can’t pick one…I’m going to cheat again and do top five – Faefever – KMM, The Laughing Corpse – LKH, Fatal Shadows – Josh Lanyon, Daughter of the Blood – Anne Bishop, Bone Crossed – Patricia Briggs, Spymasters Lady – Joanna Bourne, As Shadows Fade – Colleen Gleason. (yes, that was seven – I could list about 20 more)

8. If you could tell everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
Moon Called – Patricia Briggs

9. What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?
Federal Tax Code in college :)

10. Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
French – that’s right..I’m talking to you Jean-Claude.

11. Shakespeare, Milton or Chaucer?
I love The Killers cover of Dire Straits Romeo and Juliet..so Shakespeare wins!

12. Austen or Eliot?
I heart Mr. Darcy.

13. What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Well…I rarely read outside the romance genre. But I am not embarrassed by that at all.

14. What is your favorite novel?
This is hard…I do love The Time Traveler’s Wife – Audrey Niffeneger.

15. Play?
Er…I read the book Wicked.

16. Poem?
I am not big on poetry, so I am going to have to go with an Anita Blake moment – To Lucasta, Going to Wars, by Richard Lovelace. In Incubus Dreams, Jean-Claude and Anita recite this poem to each other. It is a very sweet moment that leads up to my favorite scene in any book I have ever read (and it is not a sex scene :P).

17. Essay?

Pass (I’m allowed a pass, right?)

18. Short Story?
On the Prowl – Patricia Briggs (I liked it better than Cry Wolf)

19. Non Fiction
Does a cookbook count:)

20. Graphic Novel?
Never read one

21. Science Fiction?
The Host by Stephanie Meyers, but I really want to read Anne Aguirre

22. Who is your favorite writer?
JR Ward, Patricia Briggs, Karen Marie Moning, Laurell K Hamilton, Nalini Singh, Lisa Kleypas, Josh Lanyon, Colleen Gleason.

23. Who is the most over rated writer alive today?
Nora Roberts (but I LOVE JD Robb:)

24. What are you reading right now?
At Graves End – Jeaniene Frost (Loving this series!!)

25. Best Memoir?
Never read one.

26. Best History?
I really enjoyed David McCulllough’s 1776.

27. Best mystery or Noir?
Josh Lanyon’s Adrien English Mystery series.
