Mailbox Monday and a Dreamfever Ramble.

June 29, 2009 by Mandi 27 Comments

Mailbox Monday hosted by the Printing Page!

I didn’t do a Mailbox Monday last week, so this is two weeks of goodies. I actually think I behaved myself quite well.

Look! I am going to read a contemporary. Thanks for all the suggestions that were given, I picked Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James to break into the contemporary genre. I have heard great things about this book and will start it tonight. (Verra nice stubble on the cover by the way).

I read my first Ann Aguirre book, Blue Diablo recently and LOVED it. I then won Grimspace from the lovely Anna from Anna’s Book Blog. I haven’t read it yet, but I couldn’t let Wanderlust sit on the shelves by itself. I plan to get to them soon.

I won this very smexy book from Maya Banks on Twitter last week. I love this cover. I had it propped up next to my computer screen for awhile so I could stare at him while I typed. The slobber became a bit excessive so I had to put him back in the tbr pile. I have never read Maya Banks and can’t wait to start this one.

I’ve heard good things about this series due to Life After Jane’s review. Plus it has an awesome cover and Walmart had it for an excellent price. I have been reading more YA lately and really enjoying them.

Just finished this book and will get my thoughts up later this week. It was the first time I had pre-ordered a book on my Kindle. When I woke up Tuesday morning it was there waiting for me. This made me very excited…I don’t need much ;).

I decided to try this series because of Amy’s review of the series at Romance Book Wyrm. Received it from the very addictive Paperback Swap.

Speaking of Amy, she very generously mailed me the books 2-6 of the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. I already have the first on my Kindle. I can not wait to start this series and many, many thanks go to Amy for all the books!!
Either today or tomorrow we should get the June teaser from Karen Marie Moning and Dreamfever. She likes to torture us and make us wait until the last day of the month to get our fix.
I also heard that Karen Marie Moning is on the cover of the August issue of Romantic Times magazine and there is a deleted scene from Dreamfever featuring Dani’s POV. Karen Marie Moning has said part of the book will be in Barron’s point of view *covers mouth to muffle screaming* but I had no idea we were going to get other characters POV. This makes me very excited. If someone has this article, I would love to hear if there are any good information in it.
That’s all I have. It’s Monday, laundry to do, house to clean. I can’t believe this coming weekend is July 4th already!! Have a great Monday!

Another one of my favorites is Elizabeth Vaughan…you have Keir and Xylara to meet!!! I can't wait what you think of them and the Breed series by Lora Leigh, you're going to o.d yourself on a; smexy men and b; of the chart romance, action and overall stories.

I'm looking forward to you ranting and raving ;D

Stacy – BD was very good:) I am looking forward to starting Julie James:)

Amanda – I just had a cousin leave for Ireland and I told her to watch out for the bad fey. She probably thinks I've lost my mind ;)

Nice variety in the mailbox this week.

I really, really need to read KMM Fae series, don't I?

I started reading City of Bones, but it didn't hold my interest. Figured it was just the mood I was in at the time. Plan on going back and trying it again at a later date.

Thanks for mentioning my review of Mark of the Demon. (^_^)

Everyone talks about Ann Aguire's books, and I have yet to buy one! Even though she did comment over on my blog last month (I was shocked!).

Honestly, I'm not a fan of full-out fantasy — is she comparable to Mercedes Lackey or something of that calliber?

Amy – I don't know what kind of books Merecedes Lacky writes, but Blue Diablo is more Urban Fantasy…like Mercy Thompson. Corinne, the heroine in Blue Diablo can pick up an object and see who has touched it in the past. Her friend's mother has disappeared so she sets off to help him find her. It is set in the "real world" but some people have magic and there are nasty demons out to get ya:)
