Lea from Closetwriter recently posted about a new blog she discovered, The Dip-Files written by Hilda. I checked it out yesterday and it is an awesome place! She loves Larissa Ione, the 19th century, and she has a side-bar of super smexy vampires. She just posted a “get to know you” post so let’s go:
Foremost, what’s your name? Mandi (Actually Amanda, but my parents have called me Mandi from day one. I have no idea why they had to give me two names. Mom I know you are reading, please explain this to me.)
What is your favourite word and why? Hmmm…this is a hard one! I think my favorite word is “Cheers” Makes me think of happy times (and alcohol).
What is the hardest word for you to pronounce? My parents are from the mid-west and say some words a little differently than here on the east coast. One word in particular “tour.” I pronounce it like it rhymes with the number two, “two-er”, instead of everyone around here that says it like it rhymes with the number four. I have known my husband for 14 years yet he still has to comment every time I say it!! I used to have to tour nursing homes at a job once, and when I would ask to go on a TOUR, I would get funny looks. Deal with it people. ;)
If you had to choose one meal to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be? (Includes one drink): Pizza with pepperoni and chicken on it and Miller Highlife beer. Yes, I am classy *burp*.
If you had to choose one book to read for the rest of your life, which would it be? (I know, I’m mean!): AHHH – how am I suppose to answer that!! Can I cheat and say I will read my Kindle (that secretly has 1500 books on it??) No? Alright..ummmm…Outlander – Diana Gabaldon. It’s a big book, and Jamie Fraser would keep me in good company.
Hypothetical scene: You’re invited to a huge party where all your favourite authors are going to be at, but you are only allowed to speak to one of them. Who would you choose to talk to and why? Another hard one! I would pick JR Ward. She was my first paranormal author and the brothers are my favorite. Plus she has a dirty mouth and I bet she tells funny stories. My kind of girl:)
We know you like blogging, but what else do you enjoy doing? I love sitting outside and having a drink with friends, going to bookstores, having date night with husband, going to Killers concerts, daydreaming about Brandon Flowers, listening to the Killers on my ipod, watching the Killers on youtube, picking out what Killers shirt I will wear today….do I need to keep going?
Do you speak any other language? If so, which one? If not, would you like to learn one? I do not speak another language and at this time I don’t see myself learning a new one. Unless the word “smexy” translates into something different in other countries :)
Hypothetical scene N˚2: You’re trapped in a dark room, haven’t eaten for days and are starting to stink. Your only salvation lays within ten feet from you. It’s a huge spider (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets size) with the key to the door hanging from its neck. Do you go get it or do you doom yourself to death? Oh I would get it alright. I would go kung fu style. Eight legs and hairy don’t have anything on me.
If you could move anywhere in the world and be given tons of money in that specific monetary unit, where would you go and why? I think I would stay in the same town I live in, just move into a big ass house with smexy men to do all of my chores.
Go over to The Dip-Files and learn more about Hilda!
Have a great weekend!!

Hey! How could I have forgotten 'cheers'!? I loooove that word as well!
Haha I had a blast reading your answers, seems like you've got a great personality. Humour will do me! :) I'm just hoping that if I ever get trapped in a dark room with a huge spider you'll be there with me! *_* Whoever has the guts to kill off a spider is my hero(ine).
Thanks for posting!
Have an awesome weekend.
Cheers :)

P.S: thanks for the good reference!

Have you read The Greek's Christmas Baby by Lucy Monroe? I think that if I had to pick a book to read over and over (maybe not necessarily for the rest of my life) it would be this one. It's awesome! Go try it if you haven't :)
It's great cheesy romance. haha

You know, my name is Amanda also, however, my mom thought Amy was a nickname. I only heard Amanda when I was in trouble. So, yeah, I totally understand the duel names. I still confuse myslef sometimes, wondering what name I might have used for this or that. Anything legal or that requires a credit card, I use Amanda. Even thouhg I have been called Amy all my life, I cannot write that name without really thinking about it! It's automatic to write Amanda.
Mandi says
Hilda – In real life I have been known to put a cup over a spider found in my house until husband gets home to let it outside. :)
Susi – I liked your list!
Sade – I haven't – but I will try it!
Amy – LOL..I always sign my name Amanda, but everyone calls me Mandi. Once at work, they ordered a plane ticket for me as "Mandi" but my driver's license says "Amanda" yeah – that was fun at the airport. They wouldn't let me on the plane!
Hilda says
Mandi – LOL, I don't even have the guts to put a cup over a spider! I'd much rather run quite possibly screaming my ass off!

Oh, I want smexy men to do chores for me too! Especially since I have been out of town and the laundry has grown into a life of it's own. eek!
dox mom says
Your Dad had a great aunt Amanda. We liked that name but you have ALWAYS been Mandi to me! We could have named you after your Dad's Aunt Leolabell! {Aunt Billie to us!}
Melissa says
I didn't realize you had a secret desire to kick butt. Let me teach you Kenpo before you start trying some whimpy Kung fu stuff! And cheers is my new way of saying bless you after a sneeze..try it out if that's your fav word.
