Seven days to go to my most anticipated book of 2009!! It has been a long wait, especially with how Faefever ended *slaps hand over mouth to stop spoilers.*
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.
When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….(from randomhouse.com)
I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who’d get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.
When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I’ve learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it….
MacKayla Lane’s ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland’s shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.
In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh–a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V’lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.
For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.…(from randomhouse.com)
Mac’s quest for the takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.
As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…(from randomhouse.com)
MacKayla Lane lies naked on the cold stone floor of a church, at the mercy of the erotic Fae master she once swore to kill. Far from home, unable to control her sexual hungers, MacKayla is now fully under the Lord Master’s spell. In the bestselling author Karen Marie Moning’s stunning new novel, the walls between human and Fae worlds have come crashing down. And as Mac fights for survival on Dublin’s battle-scarred streets, she will embark on the darkest-and most erotically charged-adventure of her life.
He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister’s murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac’s every thought-and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.
As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V’lane vie for her body and soul, as she rallies the sidhe-seers to fight an impossible battle, and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac’s greatest enemy delivers a final challenge…
It’s an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth-about herself, and about the world she thought she knew. I think DREAMFEVER is highly anticipated by a lot of readers! And justifiably so!
I have the DARKFEVER, BLOODFEVER and FAEFEVER on the shelves, unread but am dying to start them. Only thing is, I heard from Leontine that some of them end with cliffhangers so I decided that I won't start reading them until the final book is due for release. That way I can read them back to back as I read the Highlander Series and not be driven crazy by the cliffhangers and to wait in order to continue with the next book.
Leontine says
Hi Mandi,
I'm on countdown too! I am re-reading the highlander book for my own "Ode To Karen Moning week" next week. I am falling in love all over again with the MacKeltar men and I am hoping Dreamfever will end up on my doorstep on the releasday or the next. I can't wait for more Mac, Barrons, V'Lane and was it Christian MacKeltar?? Also the fact that in this release we get a portion of the story told from Barrons POV, very intriguing to say the least.
Be still my heart, 7 more day's to go!!
Mandi says
Pearl – Yes, I have heard many who are doing that. There is definite cliff-hanger type endings..it is killing me!! And I know KMM will be evil with her ending of Dreamfever too ;)
Mandi says
Leontine – How could I forget – Barron's POV??? And Christian..his part in the series isn't done yet.
I loved her Highlander books..I think Dageus is my favorite:)
Blodeuedd says
Hi Mandi,
Ok I have the e-book, I have the podcast…still I get nowhere with the first. I guess it's because I don't really go for audio, and e-books can be a hazzle. But one day I will finish cos I liked it so far :)
Mandi says
Blodeuedd – I have never done an audiobook..but I want to start..I figure when I am cleaning the house, at least I can listen to a book:)
Amanda says
I cannot wait to get this book!! I'm just in two minds as to whether to get the print first or the audio!
I am so excited, a few places have the book early and its so hard to resist until the release date!!
Donna (Fantasy Dreamer) says
I haven't even read this series yet but I have bought the first 3 books. Bought them because everyone says they are so good.
You know what's bad? I haven't read this series and I felt a twinge of sad when I read in your post that the 5th book will be the last.
Mandi says
Amanda – early?? That is very tempting;)
Donna – LOL…I want the fifth because I am dying to know how it ends, but I don't want it to end either. However, I believe KMM has said there will be a spin-off series in the same world. YAY!
Leontine says
Hey All,
Karen Moning stated in the RT, quote Karen Moning:
The five books of the Fever series lay the foundation for two additional, connected series. I continue writing first person UF with romantic elements {end quote}
At one hand I am sad she isn't returning to her third person romance stories yet on the other hand the Fever series had been good!! I wonder where she will take us :D
Mandi says
Thanks Leontine!
Anna says
I cannot wait to read the fourth book. I sucked down the first three in a few weeks. LOL!
I want to learn more about Barrons…yes please. ;)
Donna, you gotta read this series. :D
Mandi says
Anna – This is why I love Barrons so much..we don't know much about him..and his volatile moods..sigh.
Michelle G says
Mandi,
I have my copy of DreamFever ordered from my books club. :) I can't wait to get my hands on it.
M
Patti says
I can't wait either! I definitely want to read about nekkid Barrons, and I'd like to see more of the MacKeltars. I think we get Dani's point of view too, which should be interesting. I didn't know we could order a signed copy – must go check that out!!
Aymless says
I suppose I should actually start the series. It's in the TBR somewhere
Amy C says
I really need to get the next two books. I enjoyed the first one, but not so much. I hear they get better! I want to feel your excitement too! LOL!
Mandi says
Michelle – can't wait to hear your thoughts:)
Patti – oh yes, Danni's POV. Yes, my excitement level just increased.
Aymless – LOL – I have so many series stuffed in my tbr:)
Amy – I think the second is a bit better than the first…
Amy C says
I know I shouldn't have…buuuut…I just checked at the Book Depository and both the second and third books were 50% off! So I ordered them and they are free shipping.
HA!
Alaine - Queen of Happy Endings says
This is such a highly anticipated book. My daughter Annie is going to be sitting at the mailbox waiting for her copy. She has been nagging me to read this series but I think I'll wait until they've all been released and I won't have to go through the agony on not knowing LOL.
Leslie says
Excellent post Mandi! :) Hell Yeah to nekkid Barrons. *grins*
I think Barrons is the son of the King and Queen. There's probably something in one of the books that dispells that but that's my guess at this point. :)
And Ryodan – yeah, what the heck is he? He spars with Barrons so maybe more than human.
Your question about Mac eating the Unseelie. I hadn't thought of that but that makes sense.
Ok, today is almost over so – only 6 days to go!
Cecile says
Wonderful post to make me want it more. I downloaded the first book from that Suvudo site. Not sure if I spelled that right or not. But I have yet to read it… but gathering from your post.. I am really missing out!!!
I will try to correct that for the near future! LOL!!
I hope you have a great night my friend!!!
Annie - Princess of the Past says
Mandi I am going NUTS waiting for Dreamfever! I swear, I may actually assualt the postman if he's one day late! I got an email from Book Depository to say my pre-order copy is in and I'll have it in A COUPLE OF DAYS! EEEEEK!!!!
Yes to nummber 2 and number 10! I get the feeling there is a LOT of nekkid Barrons in this book. Lucky us :-)
I totally forgot about IYD. Now I'm even more excited. That's it. I'm not going to work til this book arrives. LOL! Kidding… :-( But if I get a text to say it came during the day I am going to be RUNNING home.
Annie - Princess of the Past says
Ooh Leslie I have a similar theory! I think Barrons is the son of the Unseelie King and his mortal mistress. Probably wrong too but that's the least crazy of all my theories.
And that thing howling in the basement…has to be Barrons himself. Again, I could be wrong!
No theories for Ryoden but it's pretty likely that he's hot and a total badass too!
Mandi says
Amy – awesome!! Those are great prices!
Alaine – I know several people who are waiting until all the books are released:) I am going to devour DF in one night and then have 1+yr of waiting..again. ;)
Leslie – hmmm..the son..maybe!! He has to be someone..important.
Cecile – Not your typical HEA/romance, but I think you will like them
Annie – I hope you get the book early!! Could it be Barron's in the basement? Was he fighting something or someone when he was on the phone in BF with Mac telling her about IYD? I always assumed that he was underground for some reason.
We will have lots to discuss next week;)
Amy says
I have a confession to make…
*big deep breath in*
I have never read a K.M. Moning book. *head hung in shame* Now just don't ask me how many of them I have on the tbr. Yikes.
Cecile says
Mandi, I also left you an award at my place!! You deserve it!
http://alliwantandmore.blogspot.com/2009/08/oh-how-loved-i-am-super-hug.html
Hope you have a great day!
Smokinhotbooks says
Aw gods I can't wait for this book!!!! A tiny part of me wishes I came across her once the 5th book is out so I could read em all at once. Barrons better be nekkid or at least flash a nipple, I need something.
Is this a stupid question what does "Mac calls IYD!!!!" mean? I'm dying to know.
Tricia says
Ah the wait has been killing me, I really hope some questions are answered especially about Barrons. I'm even thinking of taking the day off and running the kids to grandma's house :)
Mandi says
Amy – LOL..that just means you have an awesome series awaiting you!!
Cecile – You are too sweet!
Smokin hot – In BF, Barrons gives Mac a cell phone and in the contacts, he leaves her with a phone# and the name is "IYD" (If you're dying). He says if she calls that number and she is not dying, he will kill her himself. In DF, she calls it!!! I don't know why! :)
Tricia – LOL..I want to find a babysitter too…it will be torture not to read until the kids go to bed:(
