1. Who is Chloe Neill, give us the low down?
She is a former southerner who now lives in the midwest, and spends a lot of her time writing…although most of it is for her day job. :)
2. What was the process like writing Some Girls Bite? Did the story just come to you? Were you inspired by something?
It was actually a pretty quick process, as I recall. I knew that I wanted to write about Merit–a female vampire with spunk–and when I got a mental image of a handsome, blond vampire with green eyes (Ethan)–that helped me complete the plot.
3. I loved how all the characters possessed such wit and humor (ok, maybe not Ethan so much!) Is humor hard to write?
Thanks! Humor is very easy for me to write, as I have a very sarcastic personality. It’s much easier for me to write than other, heavily emotional scenes–the really sad ones, the really angry ones.
4. There are a lot hints and unanswered questions in this book. How far ahead do you plan? You currently have four books in this series set to be released, do you have a definite number planned?
I have eight books in mind, but the ultimate size of the series depends on how well they sell and whether Penguin wants to continue to contract for more books. I know the general arcs of the relationships between the main characters, but the mystery plots in each book are outlined one at a time.
5. Mallory learns she is a witch in this, but her powers are not really explored. Will we see her in action in the future?
It’s my intention to see more of Mal’s powers as the books proceed, but that depends on Mal’s and Merit’s relationship, and how if it manages to survive the supernatural drama between them (an issue explored in Book Two, FRIDAY NIGHT BITES). *oh no!*
6. How did you come up with all of the names? Merit, Catcher, Luc? You don’t tell us Merit’s full name, will we ever find out?
Yes, you’ll find out Merit’s full name. I keep a list of names I like, and then–having the character and their personality in mind–I let them pick the name that fits them best. When the name doesn’t sound awkward, I know I’ve got it.
7. Besides the Chicagoland Vampire series, I also noticed on your website you have a new series coming out this January. The first book is called, Firespell. Give us the scoop!
Thanks! FIRESPELL is the first in my new Novels of the Dark Elite series, which premieres on January 5, 2010. The novels share the story of Lily Parker, a New Yorker who’s sent to Chicago to attend a chichi private school while her parents are on sabbatical. She discovers strange things afoot in the former convent, and comes face to face with a completely new, magical world.
8. Which fictitious character do you lust after the most?
Jamie, of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. Yum. *Smexy agrees!!*
9. If you could trade places with any heroine, who would you choose?
Wow. That’s a hard one. How about Eve Dallas in J.D. Robb’s In Death series? She kicks quite a bit of a$$. And Roarke’s no slouch! :)
10. Who would win in a battle? Edward Cullen or Harry Potter?
Harry. Hands-down. :)
11.Here at smexy, we like hairy chests – what do you think? Yay or nay?
I can see the appeal of both, but as a midwesterner who’s usually cold in the wintertime, let’s go with hairy. :)
Thanks for having me today!!

Great interview. Both of these books look great. I would have to pick Some Girls Bite, since I have not read either one.
I would have to say I would love Friday Night Bites! Some Girls Bites was an amazing addition the the vampire genre and was not weighted down with preconceptions and too much fang. It was unique and action packed. I have no doubt Chloe Neill will follow suit with her next book!
I can't wait to read Friday Night Bites! "coming soon to a bookstore near you"
Great interview. I've been hearing good things about this series. If this is open internationally, please enter me. :)

Loved your interview Mandi, funny and informative.
I'd love to win a copy of Some Girls Bite, gotta start at the start :-)
Hi Mandi and Chloe!
I just picked up Some Girls Bite, and I'd love the second in the series.
If I was going to pick a fictional character lust after, I'd go with Kisten of the Hollows Series by Kim Harrison. Sweet and sexy vampire, but few chest hairs if I remember correctly. He makes up for it with the fangs. lol.
Dottie :)
I would be happy with either book as I haven't read them yet, but if I were to choose I'd go with the first one.
lesly7ch(at)yahoo(dot)com
I'm going to say the first book since I like to start from beginning.
