Three years after the conclusion of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, domestic bliss is not always easy to achieve. Colonel Brandon’s responsibilities for Eliza, the daughter of his first love, regularly take him away from home, and Marianne’s passionate, jealous nature threatens to rock the foundations of their marriage.
Now Willoughby and his wife have returned to the West Country. When Brandon is called away, Marianne meets Willoughby at a dinner and feels herself once again succumbing to his charm. The more she sees him, the more she’s in danger of giving in to her passion. Willoughby has everything to gain in driving a wedge between them. Will Brandon realize in time that his passionate young wife’s feelings of neglect may drive her into scandal? Can Marianne find the courage to turn her back on her first love? Or is it too late to save themselves and their marriage?

Great review! I love Jane Austen's work and I loved Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon (well I love him in every movie), his voice mmmmmmm… I always hesitate to read sequels to any of Jane Austen's work, don't know why, but this one is going on my wishlist!

Intersting premise…I loved S&S, and always wondered how things went on after the book ended. (I wanted to name my cats Mr. Darcy and Col. Brandon but my hubby said he'd never remember their names. And then we found out they were girls.)

Marissa – The only other "sequel" I have read for Austen is Mr. Darcy, Vampyre – and I wasn't impressed. However, this one was really cute and caught the voice well I thought.
Patti – LOL..I wanted to do something similar. Darn husbands!
Leontine – My favorite Austen book is Mansfield Park. But Yes, I do love this movie!!!

Hi Mandi,
Ohh Willoughby sequel, he was such a scoundrel. I would sure love to read this one.

Willoughby I spit on you!! But Greg Wise playing him was so smexy.
heidenkind says
Huhn. So just to clarify, Marianne and Willoughby don't have an affair in this book?
Katiebabs~I don't know, I always enjoyed Willoughby. Not that he isn't a jerk and deserved exactly what he got, but there's a lot of potential for a tortured hero there…
Mandi says
Heidenkind – Ummmmm….there is an indiscretion.

Hi Mandi and hello everyone,
I just wanted to say hello and thank you for your lovely review, I'm so glad you enjoyed my novel.
I hope the book has a bit of everything – some drama and humour is always important in Jane Austen's books so I think it's important to include similar scenes. My books are a little sexier than Austen's but those scenes are subtly done – your imagination is left to do a lot of the work. I don't want to give away what happens to Marianne and Willoughby, but the title says a lot – a tale of almost irresistible temptation.
Of course in Austen tradition there is a happy ending!

I'm always afraid of this sort of book. I was burned by Scarlett, and I've had a hard time moving past the pain.
It sounds like I should open my mind a little more and give at least this one a shot.
Mandi says
Ack – Scarlett. Ick!
Come back tomorrow for a chance to win this one!! :)
