Smexy’s Top Ten

October 9, 2009 by Mandi 34 Comments

Because I am a huge David Letterman fan and he has admitted to being a naughty boy with members of his staff, with his “staff”, I am doing a top ten list of sorts. I still love you Dave!

Buzzworthy book of the week – Demon Forged by Meljean Brook. 10 by The Booksmugglers, A by katiebabs, Lovin Me Some Romance – A. AHHH! Why haven’t I read this series yet??? Must remedy this situation!

I worked on making a mustache post this week (meaning, I googled for ten minutes without results) but I could not find enough examples of men looking hot with a mustache. Except for Brandon Flowers or course. So my verdict – mustache – no (unless your name is BFlow), goatee – in most cases (yes Vishous, I’m talking to you baby) and general scruffiness – yes (husband has perfected this!)

I had to go to volunteer training at my son’s school so I am able to volunteer in his class and go on field trips. I learned that if a kid picks his nose I am not allowed to tell anyone – srsly?! If I see and body fluids I must don my bio hazard suit before approaching it. If a bookcase falls on my head and I haven’t signed in at the front office, no workers comp for me. And if there is a threat inside the school and I am idly wandering the halls, the teacher will lock me out of the room..I guess leaving me to fight the baddie. Fun times!

I saw the Invention of Lying this weekend and loved it. Set in a world where no one has EVER lied. Until one day Ricky Gervias’ (love him!) character is desperate for money and lies at the bank. He ends up lying his way to fame. Seriously funny and I love the message. Plus I have a total girl crush on Jennifer Garner.

Loving this new cover of Changeless by Gail Carrigeer, second book in her Alexia Tarabotti novels. I still need to read Soulless! Changeless is out March 30th.

I have NEVER seen The Notebook! Yes, I know. I mention this on Twitter and I received several – OMG you must go rent now and then several threatening tweets about how awful it is. I love a nice romantic movie and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t watched it. I love Rachael McAdams – she may fight Jennifer Garner for my top girl crush. (No idea why I am so into the ladies today.) I am not a Ryan Gossling fan – icky. So maybe that is why. Anyway – one day! One day I will watch it.

October 20th, 8pm EST chat with JR Ward about Covet (and maybe some Lover Mine!). We can ask her why Marie-Terese was so boring. No, I do have some questions for her. Hopefully I will get called on. The next day, I will have a post full of delicious spoilery details. Even though Covet was not my favorite book, I love her chats and I am really looking forward to this.

I love this scene in the movie Wanted – with James McAvoy. He is hot in this film..all sweaty and violent. My husband also watches this movie about 50 times a week, but I don’t complain ;)

T-shirt of the week. Don’t you think we all need this shirt? I know Smokin Hot does ;)

So my mom comes over this week and demands that I get online and look up the guy who hosts Surviving Disaster on Spike TV. His name happens to be Cade Courtley and apparently my mother is now ready for any disaster that comes her way as long as Cade comes over to rescue her. Now – let me backtrack for a minute – my mom is watching SPIKE tv…srsly? This is the woman who watches Fox News and Masterpiece Theater(and of course True Blood). Now she is scouring Spike for hot dudes? Who knew when I made her read the BDB series (she is a total Vishous lover) that she would start lusting after men named Cade. (I have to say she also wants to do wicked things with Bones and Barrons) – See I can’t help my lust for fictional men. My mother is the original smexy! I am very lucky that I get to share my love of romance books (and fictional men) with my mom. I can’t imagine it any other way :)
And of course as a dutiful daughter I immediately found pictures of a shirtless Cade Courtley and emailed them to her. She reminded me that she found him first and apparently he is off limits to me. :)

That is it. Have a nice weekend my smexylites. Until Monday.
PS – GO RAVENS!

Great list! I can't see some it (darn workplace!).

The Notebook is awesome. My hubby even liked it & he's a Spike.tv dude. I really don't care for Ryan G. either but this movie puts him in a whole other perspective.

    Enjoy your weekend!

LOL! Loved your top ten Mandi!! And you definitely MUST read DEMON FORGED! After you read the other novels in the series of course. *wink*

I loved "Wanted". Fun movie. And mustaches – Ewww!!!

I'll wait for "Invention of Lying" to come out ON DEMAND. I did watch "Sunshine Cleaning" last weekend and LOVED IT! Amy Adams is one of my faves.

Hmmm…I haven't received COVET yet but I'm going to try my best to go into it open minded. I read that if you go in expecting BDB, you're bound to be disappointed…

    Have a great weekend!!

Um, how seriously smokin is James McAvoy? That library scene in 'Atonement' is bloody SMEXY!
I've read rumors that studios want McAvoy to play Jamie Fraser in the adaptation of 'Outlander' – Diana Gabaldon wisely blogged something along the lines of "James McAvoy is a wonderful actor and very handsome, but he's only about 4 foot tall!" lol

Looking forward to any JR Ward dirt you can dish!

Goatee, oh yes. Huge fan of V and his sexy goatee.

The Notebook? Read the book, gave it three stars, skipped the movie.

Love the smut T-shirt. Seriously wonder if I'd ever had the courage to wear it though. I'm a closet smut reader. :)

I probably won't make the JR Ward chat but I'll be stalking your blog for the 411. Hopefully it will get me excited for Lover Mine. Right now I'm not really feeling it.

Ummmm what else? Oh yeah, my girl crush: Gwen Stefani. So cute!

I know I had more to say but dang it, I hosted my 3 year olds birthday party today and my brain is toasted.
