Review: Destiny’s Trinities I: Beth’s Acceptance – Teal Ceagh

November 7, 2009 by Mandi 15 Comments

For weeks, the darkly sinful Zachariah, her favorite customer at McGinty’s, has been raising NYC student Beth Siegel’s pulse, driving her crazy with need.

Neither can she keep the tall, blue-eyed mysterious Luke, who haunts the library stacks at her day job, out of her mind or her sweaty, desperate fantasies.

Fate hands Beth a startling destiny, a chance to bond with both of them—a bond formed via sex. Sex with either one of them would have been fabulous. Together? Irresistible.

Destiny’s Trinities: Beth’s Acceptance – Teal Ceagh
October 2009
Erotic Paranormal Romance
95 pages, e-book
Ellora’s Cave

Beth has had two men on her mind for quite some time now, and doesn’t know how to think about anything else. One is Luke, who is often shows up at the library during Beth’s shifts. The last time she saw him they had a very surprising, quick passionate embrace before Luke abruptly leaves. That same night, she sees Zach while she is working at the bar. He has been haunting her dreams and thoughts. Beth is very attracted to him and they also have a steamy make-out session, one that leaves Beth with wanting more. Twice this day she has had two men show her passion like nothing before and twice she has been left before her true passion can be fulfilled.

As she is walking home that night feeling quite lonely, she is attacked by a creature not of this world. Before she can react, Luke and Zach appear and fight off the crazed animals. Beth soon comes to realize Luke and Zach have many secrets – Zach is a vampire, and Luke, who is actually named Lindal, is an elf. They left her aching for more because she is human, and to mate with a human in unheard of. However, they realize they had no choice in being “called” to help Beth this night. The three of them together have a higher purpose and they must bond together to fight a war on the horizon.

Beth’s Acceptance does a great job of combining erotic romance with paranormal aspects. There is a lot of m/f/m action going on and it was written very well. The three of them have to have sex to bond together to fight for mankind – it sounds dramatic, but in the story events unfold at a very nice and steady pace. I found Beth’s acceptance (ha – get it?) of the supernatural a little too easy. I know I mention this a lot, but it is hard for me to accept a reaction from someone who just discovers a paranormal world exists. Beth was more nonchalant about it than I would expect her character to be. She also accepts having two lovers and the subsequent bond that will change her life forever without much anxiety.

Once I got past that part, the role of Zach as a vampire and Lindal as an elf and their struggle to get along after an eternity of being enemies was very interesting. Zach and Lindal both have a common goal to protect and be with Beth, but they also need to overcome their preconceived notions about each other. For the bond to work, all three of them have to be in it together. Beth’s life goes from working in a library and a bar, to being a pivotal player in the supernatural world and being in a serious relationship with two men. That would be a little much for anyone to take on. However, when the danger arises, Beth is ready to confront anything in her path. She definitely has the mental strength to be who she is destined to become.

The romance scenes were hot. They both pleasured her, they took turns, and to my surprise and enjoyment, Lindal and Zach also have a small moment of romance. Zach is a bit more of the passionate alpha, while Lindal, although he knows his way around in the bedroom, is more reserved and serious. The play off each other really well, each a very strong independent character.

The book ends at a very pivotal point – and I hope we find out what happens soon.

Rating: 4 Stars

I've been wanting something steamy to read, and this looks like it will do perfectly!

The only thing worse then having a heroine accept the paranormal part of the story right away, is when it takes her the entire book to accept it. :)

That is such a good point!! I also can't stand it when the heroine rejects the paranormal point all book. It is so tricky (at least for me) to accept it. I do prefer the protagonist to accept faster than to reject it throughout!

If you are looking for steamy, this is a very good choice :)

I read this book not long ago. I agree with you in that Beth fell into her new life among the paranormals rather quickly and without much question. Perhaps it was all the hot sex distracting her? :)

Good review, Smexy! :) Even though this is the kind of thing I would never read, you make it sound somewhat appealing. ;)

Thank you Mandi. This does sound interesting. ANd I like that it mixes in the paranormal (vampire) and the Faire (elf).
