That’s right, Smexy is going to be in Vegas all next week! Husband has to go out to speak at a conference and I’m tagging along. I’m going to party it up with computer programmers – are you jealous? ;)
I have to say, my husband has done the trip before without me and I have gotten some pretty “fun” phone calls late at night – so I am looking forward to hitting the town. This will be my second time out there, but the first time I was pregnant, so it was hard to be sinful ;)
Whenever I think of Vegas, two things come to mind – first, the movie Swingers (above pic). I LOVE this movie – this is before Vince Vaughn became the stupid Vince Vaughn he is today. It is about two guys, Trent and Mike, trying to make it work in LA and being down on their luck in love. They go to Vegas where Trent tries to cheer Mike up. Has a young Jon Favreau, Ron Singleton, Heather Graham – it came out right when I started college and it became a big hit with my friends. I think we still quote from this movie whenever we get together. My favorite scene:
Trent: They’re gonna give daddy the Rainman suite, you dig that?
Mike: Do you think we’ll get there by midnight?
Trent: Baby, we’re going to be up five hundy by midnight!
Mike: Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!
Trent: Vegas baby! Vegas!
Mike: Vegas!
Mike: Do you think we’ll get there by midnight?
Trent: Baby, we’re going to be up five hundy by midnight!
Mike: Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!
Trent: Vegas baby! Vegas!
Mike: Vegas!
Also when I think of Vegas, I have to think of my boys, The Killers. This is their hometown! Too bad they just flew off to tour in South America. It makes it hard for me to stalk them when they are not home!
And of course, I must plan out the books I am taking with me. I know, going to Vegas and thinking about books – I’m a dork! I have a five hour flight and husband will be working all day so I will have lots of time to read, and lay by the pool – tough week ahead!
Big thanks to my parents for watching my kids, and to my brother for watching my dog – who is an angel (*whispers* totally not an angel) But who couldn’t love a face like this –
Have you ever been to Vegas? Anything I have to do while I’m out there?

Oh girl, leave the books at home! Do Vegas and write your own book!! LOL. I honeymooned in Vegas, I barely remember it. How romantic huh? hehehe
Mandi says
I'm going to be all by my lonesome during the day…getting into trouble by myself is no fun. ;)
Oh the memories you must have…or not.. ;)
Fiction Vixen says
Vegas day fun: get massage, pedicure, shop, sit by the pool, gamble, eat in fancy restaurant, oogle roman guards at Ceasars Palace. So much to do.
Mandi says
ok, ok
I already have spa planned out. Def sitting by the pool. I heart craps. I will definitely eat well.
And oogle hot men! How could I have forgotten that.
And I always have alcohol to be a friend of mine ;) We are already so close.
Fiction Vixen says
Start with Bloody Marys for breakfast and then go from there. :)

The Bellagio is a must see!

A Cirque Du Soleil show is always required.
Either O at the Bellagio or KA at MGM Grand are awesome!
Mandi says

My sister and I went last November.
Mandi says
Wow- Cool pics! That looks gorgeous!
ClothDragon says
Alright, because I didn't say it the first time I have to add in that if you go to Red Rock, remember to fill the tank and bring plenty of water.
We had two friends that had gone before us suggest this and we still didn't bring enough water, and were dehydrated and exhausted after only that first scenic stop. We missed out on the other 20 because of it. It really is that hot there even in November — or at least that tiring because you will climb stuff even if you've never climbed stuff before. Something about those haphazardly piled rocks.
Kindle Vixen says
well I live in vegas, so its just eh for me ;) but there is lots to do here. Are you staying on the strip somewhere? lots to see down there… and if you like nature red rock canyon is beautiful and not overly hot this time of year.
This weekend there is a book festival I may hit up…. don't know when you are coming tho. You picked a good time, the weather this week has been really really nice!
Kindle Vixen says
oh, if you are at all a fan of the Beatles you should try to see Love at the Mirage… it is my favorite show here :)
And all chocolate fans should visit Ethel M Chocolates.
There is a list of what attractions are at what hotel here:

Cloth Dragon – water – check! Thx :)
Kindle Vixen – I am staying at the Mandalay Bay – the weather does look nice.
I am so checking out that chocolate shop!
Thanks!!

So jealous you get to go to Vegas just for fun! I've gone twice for work stuff and was only there for like 48 hrs each time. Definitely not enough time to do anything fun. I did have a work dinner at some nice Chinese restaurant at the Bellagio. That was cool, and that hotel is gorgeous. It has an indoor garden that is beautiful.
I hope you have a blast!!
p.s. and you're dog is so darn cute :)

I hope you have a great time! I would love to go out there with just me and the hubby.
I lived out there til I was 10 :). My mom and my aunt worked in a few of the casinos downtown. I've been back for visits a few times to visit family when my mom still lived outside of Vegas an hour and a half. I do have a lot of family there but we are not close.
Have a great time!

OH! So jealous!
Kiss some dice for me, Mandi!

Hur? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of a not-stupid Vince Vaughn. ;)
I've never been to Vegas, but I think you should go to the art gallery in the Belaggio. :)

Soooo jealous! Vegas AND no kids? For a whole week?!?
Seriously, have a great time!
Donna [Fantasy Dreamer's Ramblings] says
Well, I've never been to Vegas so I don't have any hot tips other than have a blast! But take a book at least for the flight over and back. :)
Oh, that face! Your dog is so cute! I'm a sucker for those pug nose pups.
mynfel says
Whee! I was just there in August. :) Make sure to take a pic of the Stoned Jack Sparrow as he waltzes up the strip. ;-)
And maybe for fun, check out the Thunder From Down Under. (I went with a girlfriend, but we felt a little left out 'cause we left our penis crown at home – seemed to be a lot of bachelorette parties there with them. LOL).

HAVE FUN!!! It's been almost 5 years since I hit Vegas!
Swingers is such a good movie, and quite an appropriate reference! :P
Your dog is adorable!!! :D

I went on holiday to Vegas in October – what a fab place! I LOVED it and the weather was so great. I even won some money on the slots! I did post a few pics on my blog in my Month in Review post. Although you are on your own during the day – sitting by the pool, drinking cocktails and reading sounds pretty fantastic ;)
Have lots of fun!!! x

Have fun…. fun fun fun, and write your own book when you come back…

I've been to Vegas many times. Living in San Diego, its only a 45 minute flight which can be booked for super cheap with Southwest. And your bag flys free! ;)
I don't go to Vegas to gamble, I go to shop. For some of the best window shopping, try the Forum shops at Caesars. Also, if you want to get drunk cheap, just sit at one of the bars in any of the major hotels, and play video poker. You drink free as long as you play. And truly, you can stretch five bucks on video poker for like an hour. I swear they're losing money there! ;)
;) VFG

Definitely see a show. I saw KA and liked it. There's a bunch of Cirque Du Soleil shows there now.
FREE: Caesar's palace is nice to walk around in, and see the statues come to life in the forum shops (every 30 min). The Bellagio fountain shows (I think once an hour at night?) are a MUST see. There's also a pirate show in front of Treasure Island (pirates fighting, ships go down). The Flamingo has a small aviary with lots of waterfowl and small ponds to walk through.
Other: I think both the Venetian and Luxor have canals inside and you can do a nice relaxing boat ride. The Venetian also has nice shopping.. and an Oxygen bar! A bar.. where you get oxygen.
Food: a little pricey, but I recommend Shibuya at MGM Grand (japanese), and the buffet at the Wynn (the best I tell you!).
Then there's In and Out burger if you're on the east coast and can't get it (like me!). It is SO AWESOME, not so pricey.
Also don't forget that Hoover Dam is nearby to go look at. That will be a few hours of sightseeing.

Thanks Everyone!!!!! I have printed this page out and I'm taking it with me :) I appreciate everyone's ideas!

I hope you have a wonderful time. And even though I've never been, I know Cirque du Soleil have a number of shows there!
