Review: Destiny’s Trinities II: Mia’s Return – Teal Ceagh

December 19, 2009 by Mandi 7 Comments

Ten years ago Alexander hungered for Mia Menendez and for a single day they had indulged that passion before tragedy struck. Now Mia is back, but she thinks Alexander died ten years ago, and no man has been able to stir her heart since. The truth could kill her.
Wyatt Whitacker, demon hunter, hates Alexander and all his kind. But one look at Mia and her pulse-stopping curves and his scarred, angry heart begins to melt and his body to rouse in ways he’s long forgotten.
The bonding has begun…

As a teenager, Mia had one true love – Alexander. For most of her teenage years he was off limits. With her fierce older brother and the fact Alexander works for a crime gang, she can’t be involved with him. But he is the hero in every one of her fantasies, and she has a pretty good feeling he has naughty thoughts about her as well. When she turns eighteen, she ups the pressure on him to take things further. He finally gives in, only to die at the hands of the very gang he works for. His life is not over though – he is turned into a vampire, but he is not allowed to tell Mia that. Ten years later, they meet again. Mia has been mourning his loss all this time. They not only rekindle their relationship, but much bigger things are in store for them. The battle against the Grimore is in full force, and they soon realize, Alexander and Mia, along with the hunter Wyatt, are destined to form a second trinity. The first of Zachary, Lindal and Beth, which we saw formed in Beth’s Acceptance have been awaiting this next trinity to form. All three have their own personal demons to fight before they can come together as one and fight for something bigger.

Mia’s Return is the second book in the Destiny Trinity series and it is just as steamy as the first, Beth’s Acceptance. If you want really well written sex scenes, this is definitely the book for you. Teal Ceagh does a great job of including many steamy scenes, but also writes enough plot to keep the story going.

I really enjoyed Alexander’s back story. Many times when an author puts a flashback in a book, I tend to get antsy to get back to present tense but this is not the case here. It is integral that we see Alexander’s and Mia’s relationship start and grow and I was greatly entertained to get their story. Teal Ceagh does a great job in a novella length book giving the reader an emotional connection to both Mia and Alexander. As I say that, I think Wyatt, the third in their trinity, gets left behind. I understand they can’t pick who is going to be part of their bond, but I just felt like we never really got to know Wyatt. He comes out of nowhere towards the end of the book and his part felt rushed and I think more background on him is definitely needed.

I am very interested to see where the story goes from here. We did not get a lot of the actual battle in this book, and I wonder how that will play out in the third book, Sera’s Gift.

My heart elevated when you said the "sex scenes were well written". I just finished reading The Strangley Beautiful Tale of Ms. Percy Parker (loved it) – I got excited when he touched her hand, who knows what'll happen if I read about 2nd base O_o *whispers* or a "home run". I need to switch gears and read some smut.

BTW the Althea Lawson book I won from your bloggy was great! Made me want to put on my ruffle-iest shirt and call Mr. Smokin by his full name. I forgot how much I enjoyed historicals.
