This May I am going to two wonderful events held in New York City. First up is BookExpo America held at the Javits Center. It is a three day event taking place May 25-27th. This will be my first time there, so I don’t have any insider information. What I can tell you is that it is a huge trade show – with publishers, authors, industry professionals, and bloggers! There are over 1,500 exhibitors and 500 authors.
My mom, and two of my good friends and I are taking over NYC. I’m not sure if they realize what they are in for, but they get to see Smexy in action surrounded by books, fellow bloggers and everyone else in the industry. I also expect them to help me stalk Sarah Jessica Parker and David Letterman, but don’t tell them that. I have no idea what to expect, but I am so excited to go. Katie, from Babbling About Books and more went last year and has an excellent post with tips on how to survive.
On Friday May 28th, I am sending my friends shopping, and I will be attending the first ever Book Blogger Convention. They just announced an affiliation with BEA, so this event will also be held at the Javits center and if you register with this convention, you also get admission into BEA! The Book Blogger Convention will cover such topics as marketing your blog, writing better posts, ethics in blogging and and the relationships between authors and blogging. I don’t see a category that deals with lusting after your fictional boyfriends, but maybe I can bring that up. The convention is only $90 if you register before February 14th, which I think is a pretty awesome price.
Will I see you there? Make sure to let me know if you will be attending!
Hi Mandi,
Seeing that I live a hop, skip and jump across the river from the Jacob Javitiz Center, I plan on coming into the city during the convention for something. Not sure what yet… but definitely want to meet my blogging friends!!! I hope to see you in May! :)
Damn. I knew I lived on the wrong coast. Say hi to SJP and Dave for me okay?
Have a blast there Mandi and everytime i read about these things I want to get all pro-active and make such a thing happen in Europe, we never have such kewl conventions over here! I'm sure you're going to keep us posted via twitter and blog what y'all are up too *grin*
I was thinking about going to, NYC is not too far for me and the price isn't so bad. Then I can meet many of the lovely smexy bloggers I follow :) I was also looking at this conference too http://aadromanceunlimited.com/
but I think the BEA one would be better….
So cool that you'll be there too! I'm definitely going to BEA, but don't know if I can make the Book Bloggers Convention as well. Looking forward to having a blast, surrounded by books and fellow book lovers!
Shucks! I will be on a cruise during BEA/BBC week.
Here's hoping I can still come down in the DC area next month.
I'll be there! I went to BEA last year and it was a blast. I'm going to both BEA and the blogger con this year. So excited you will be, too. We will definitely have to meet up. And I will join you on the lusting after fictional boyfriends panel. *evil laugh*
I really wish I could go, but a trip to NY is just not in the cards. You have fun, though and I'll be following you every step of the way!
That's pretty cool I wonder if they allow "egghead" bloggers in there? I hope your snow melts by May 28th;) You should move to Maine we have NO snow. xoxoxo
Damn. I knew I lived on the wrong coast.
Or in my case the wrong side of the planet *grin* Enjoy! I will have to live vicariously through you :)
Sounds like fun! But too far away from me to go. I hope you are able to share your findings when you get back with us less fortunate ones. :)
Aw, I'm so jealous! I would love to go and meet all my blogging friends. Good luck with stalking thing. ;)
Sounds like you're going to have a fabulous time!! Have fun, and be sure to tell us all about it when you get back, including any feedback on the idea for the 'lusting after your fictional boyfriends' workshop. ;)
