Thanks so much for having me to visit again. Today I’m here to talk about my release Fancy Free.
Fancy Free is a fish-out-of-water story about a woman who inherits a condom factory. There’s a bit of a story behind this book. My husband and I were flying home from San Francisco aboard an Air New Zealand flight. I was browsing the in-flight magazine and an article about new products caught my attention. One of the items was a vibrating condom. Immediately my mind seized the idea and the possibilities.
“Oh, look at this,” I said to my husband in a loud voice. “Let’s buy one. What a great idea for a story,” I added.
My husband shushed me when I attempted further discussion because people were looking, so I went into daydream mode, and by the time we landed in Auckland, I had a plot mapped out about a heroine who inherits a condom factory.
Here’s a little about the story:
He Says, She Says on Inheriting a Condom Company
ALICE BEASLEY says:
The reading of my godmother’s will shocked me speechless. I assumed I’d inherit money or jewelry. A condom company came way down the bottom of my list of expectations. Who’d have thought? My godmother offered me a share in a condom company or a small monetary inheritance. My boyfriend, Steven wanted me to take the money and run. Me—I saw possibilities, the answers to making my dreams come true. We fought about it. Embarrassing? Oh, yeah. We were the center of attention, and there were quite a few sniggers from the other occupants in the hall.
I caught sight of this man—tall, dark and sexy. I dubbed him Mr. Dashing, and spellbound, my attention kept wandering to him during the will reading. Imagine my blush when I discovered I’d have to work with him at the condom company. Things went downhill from there. Steven left Sloan in a huff because I wouldn’t follow his orders, and two weird women accosted me, shouting anti-condom slogans. Life in Sloan looks as if it might be interesting, but I’m a bit wary about condoms. After all, it’s not as if I have much experience in that arena…
JAMES BATES says:
I can’t believe Alicia expects me to train this girl. And Alicia’s death couldn’t have come at a worse time. Someone is out to sabotage Fancy Free. It’s been one thing after another. Financially, we can’t take much more. I hope the new design goes well because the company sure needs the boost of funds.
Will Alice and James make a good team? Will she make up with Steven? How do they test the condoms? And who is out to destroy Fancy Free? Read Alice and James story in FANCY FREE to discover all the answers. Available from Ellora’s Cave. http://www.jasminejade.com/pm-5289-127-fancy-free.aspx
Now I have a few questions for you: What would you do if you inherited a condom company? Would you sell it or adhere to the terms of the will and try to run the condom company?
Excerpt:
“Morning all,” Glen Bellbooth said. “Coffee, Alice?”
She nodded, her distraction allowing James to look his fill. His eyes strayed to the golden speckles on the bridge of her nose before his gaze drifted downward to the creamy skin at the base of her throat. Did she have freckles on her breasts as well? And what about size and shape? Hard to tell with the baggy clothes.
A soft, choked sound brought a grin. He winked at her and frowned inwardly when she didn’t respond. Most women blushed or flirted back, unable to resist his charm and his sexy dimple. Miffed, he realized this woman had slipped stealthily into his mind yesterday and hadn’t left since. He was at a loss to explain his fixation. She wasn’t his type at all. James admitted it—he normally went for obvious. Long legs and big breasts, women who knew how to highlight their assets. He shot another glance at the new owner. The sleeplessness of the previous night hadn’t just been work related. This woman had intruded as well, in a graphic, sexual manner that left him hot and eager and desperate. A series of images flickered through his mind. Intimate images.
James cursed inwardly. His body had no such qualms, suddenly tense in places that had no business reacting in the middle of a board meeting. Immediately, he redirected his thoughts to the more mundane and away from dangerous territory. When he added Ms. Knowall to the equation, his dick subsided immediately.
“Have a seat.” Rita motioned to a chair. “I saved you some cake. You too, Glen.”
James grabbed a pen from inside the folder, his mind on the future. He wasn’t staying in Sloan for much longer. Just the six months his contract stipulated, the six additional months he’d promised Alicia. Although his main objective remained, to catch the person responsible for the sabotage of the trials for the X-100, he’d agreed because of family. Stupid idea as it turned out. His mother disapproved of everything he did. Some things never changed. But Alice might create a welcome distraction and maybe he could discover the body beneath before he left…
Richard Morgan, one of Sloan’s cops, nudged him in the shoulder. “Mind out of the gutter, boy,” he said gruffly.
“What? I’m not doing anything.” James summoned innocent and wronged on his face as he turned to the older man.
“Huh.” Richard gave a snort, half laughter but with disapproval too. “I’ve seen the same look on Luke’s face. Yours too in your younger days. You have mischief on your mind.”
“My mind is on condoms,” James countered. “The X-100—”
“Yeah, but not in a business sense. I wasn’t born yesterday. Don’t hurt that girl, James.”
James scowled. “I don’t intend to hurt her. We have to work together.” But exploration of mutual pleasure wasn’t out of the question. No pain involved in a little consensual sex. He snorted inwardly. Probably the kick of male hormones. See a challenge and respond.

I'd keep it! I'd keep it and keep pumping out the product. Heh.
Andrea I says
I'd keep the condom factory. I would enjoy having a business of my own as long as there was competent manager for the manufacturing area.
Shelley Munro says
LOL – I think I would too. As long as a condom company markets properly, they shouldn't ever go out of business, right?
Shelley Munro says
Andrea – ah, but how would you explain it to your friends and family? It would be like being a writer of erotic romance. ;-)
Shelley Munro says
Oops, hit enter too soon. What I meant was – you get these dropped jaws and wide eyes when you try to explain…
Estella says
I think running a condom company might be interesting.
I would tell my friends and family that it is a business first and foremost.
Heather (DarklyReading) says
I think it would be fun to keep the condom company, it would only take a few months till I stop blushing when people ask me what I do ;).
s7anna says
I would definitely hang onto the company…I would then be able to devote all my time to my love of reading…It's a veritable cash cow so why not take advantage of such a great opportunity. Besides how many people can say that they own a condom company.
Happy Reading

I would keep it and hope that I could make it a major success and then maybe I could expand into more companies.

LOL! I would so try to run it! Money's great and all but it sounds like a once in a lifetime chance. I can't even imagine what it would take to run one as a successful business, but I would so be willing to try to make it work. :D
Fiction Vixen says
HA! I'd keep it! Safe sex never goes out of style right? The Love Glove by Fiction Vixen…nice ring to it right? Ok, maybe not. I'd still keep the company though. :)
Shelley Munro says
Heather – It would take me a while to get past the embarrassment factor, too, but that wouldn't stop me!
Shelley Munro says
Anna – good idea about having extra money to buy books. I hadn't thought of that.
Sherry – ooh! A woman with ambition. I like it!
Shelley Munro says
Jase – it sounds as if the majority agree with you. :)
Anna – it's not something that would happen everyday, is it?
Shelley Munro says
LOL – The Love Glove by the Fiction Vixen has a very nice ring to it.
Beth says
I'd keep it of course. No reason not to. Of course, I'd need someone capable to teach me what I needed to know to run is properly.
