The Master and the Muses tells the story of Thomas Rodin an artist residing in London in the 1800’s and the women that shaped his work as his muses. He has been shunned by the Royal Academy because they do not approve of his work and his personal life. However he strives throughout to win their approval and recognition along with a group of other artists who call themselves the Brotherhood. The story is divided into three books each dedicated to each of his Muses.
Book 1: Helen
Helen is working in a French Hat shop when she catches the eye of Thomas’s brother William who feels that she would be the perfect model for his brother to inspire his work. Helen is what William would descried as a ‘stunner’ with her gorgeous fiery red hair she is an artists dream. But Helen does not have the fiery spirit that her hair would suggest and Thomas is not the man that she truly loves but will Thomas let her have her hearts desire?
Book 2: Sara
Sara has been living on a farm for most of her life but she has decided to move out of the country and into the city. On a trip to the theatre she meets Thomas and the dark haired beauty becomes his latest muse, but will she be content with being just that?
Book 3: Grace
Grace has been the consistent woman throughout the story. She has had a hard life, sold as a young child into the hands of a man who uses her for his own pleasure. When her chance at freedom comes she takes it with both hands even though it will mean more hardship for her. Grace arrives on Thomas’s doorstep, and so becomes Thomas’s muse. Will Thomas be able to heal her tortured soul and admit that she may be his ultimate inspiration?
The Master and the Muses was the first book by Amanda McIntyre that I have read and she definitely an author that I will be reading again. I loved how the story was written and how each of the stories while separate were also entwined with one another.Thomas was the Rogue you wanted to hate at times but you ended up loving. When I hate the male lead character at the start it takes a lot for me to swing back the other way and with book it was managed. Ms. McIntyre is absolutely an author that you will want to check out if you haven’t already. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
Hope you enjoy it!
