Merry McKenzie is a twenty-five year old Nurse from Rhode Island who has finally flown the family nest and rented an apartment in the city of Boston.
Merry is so excited to be finally free and out on her own. She loves her family dearly, but when her mother was brutally murdered when she was sixteen years old, she took on the ‘mother’ role of the family and raised her little brother. But now that he’s older she’s decided that now is the time to move on and go out on her own feeling that the longer she stays the harder it will be for all when she goes.
Jason Falconer is a star baseball player and Merry’s new landlord. Its his off season and he is trying to evade the press that are searching for him. He doesn’t want them finding out where he lives and so far he has managed that but with his Aunt Dottie living in the building and calling the cops every opportunity she gets its becoming harder every time!
From the moment Merry and Jason first saw each other there has been a chemistry between them. Although seeing as Merry doesn’t follow sports she has no idea who Jason is all she knows is that her landlord is HOT.
The fact that Merry doesn’t follow sport and therefore has no idea how famous Jason is, makes for an endearing quality because Jason knows that she doesn’t just like him for his celebrity status.
But all is not ‘normal’ in this particular apartment block. A vampire lives in the basement, a werewolf on the 2nd floor, don’t forget the sex actress witches on the 3rd floor and what ensemble would be complete without a resident ghost? Who refuses to let anyone live in his old apartment. Couple this with Jason who has a secret only his blood family know about and this makes for a very interesting apartment block.
I adored this new book from Ashlyn Chase, it had everything that a girl could ask for! It has Romance, humour and the quirky paranormal in abundance. When I sat down to read Strange Neighbors I was so glad that I had the afternoon to read, the story drew me straight in and kept me engaged the whole way through. Ms. Chase’s writing was fluid and the transitions between character narrations were flawless. I found in places that I was laughing out loud and wanting to share the story with my boyfriend who at the time was reading The Stand by Stephen King and welcomed my funny interjections! I have been raving about this book to my friends and they have been begging me to let them borrow it to read.
The fantastic thing I found after I finished the book was that there is more to come as Ms. Chase has a series planned. This will be a series that I will be keeping an eye out for and will be flagged for my auto purchase list.
If you like a good fun book with a twist of the paranormal then this is the book for you it is the perfect book to while away a lazy sunny summer afternoon with.
Early reviews have compared Strange Neighbors to Friends and after reading it I can see why. As you may have already guessed, I loved this book and rate is highly and I dare anyone NOT to like it!! I hope that you all like it as much as I did.
My Rating 5/5

Thank you so much, Amanda!
I SO appreciate your kind words. And I'm happy to see others are interested in getting in on the fun!
It's my first mass market paperback and has been making quite a splash!
I got the word yesterday that it won an award! SO cool considering I didn't enter anything and it's won based on a reviewer's recommendation.
I'm so glad the book is only $6.99.
My trade paperbacks are so much more expensive so their audience is limited.
I pour my heart and soul into every book and won't release anything I'm not proud of!
