Smexy’s Top Ten – June 18th

June 18, 2010 by Mandi 20 Comments

10. My week – I’ve been sick and our deck is still demolished. On a good note, as you read this hubs and I have whisked ourselves away for a long weekend. We are having a pre-celebration of ten years of wedded bliss which becomes official this July. At this moment, I’m most likely in a hot tub with a glass of wine (from a box in a plastic cup!)

Shadowfever (Fever, #5)9. Brace yourselves – Karen Marie Moning has stated she is pushing back the date of her final book in her Fever series, Shadowfever. The new release date is January 18, 2011 (originally out 12/7/10). BUT – she also mentions that this book is 180,000 words, which is almost double what her previous books have been. This is a GOOD thing. There is so much to wrap-up and address, I prefer a longer book, even if this means we have to wait just a bit longer. Barron’s I await you!!! My 2011 will start out mighty fine indeed!!!

8. Speaking of the Fever series, I’m planning a re-read/read for the first time of the fever series starting this October here at Smexy. Since the final book is coming out, I thought it would be fun to go back to the beginning and reread the previous four books. And if you have not read them yet, this is the time to do it!!! I will post more closer to fall.

The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5)7. Last note about Karen Marie Moning – If you have yet to read her Highlander books, I also strongly recommend them. They are Paranormal Romances, not Urban Fantasy, and can totally be read as stand alones, separate from her fever series. I prefer the final four books (Kiss of the Highlander, Dark Highlander, The Immortal Highlander, and Spell of the Highlander) I will say there are little hints and tidbits that do tie into the fever series. It is fun to discover them as you read. PS – Dark Highlander with Dagues is my FAVORITE!!!

alexs36. Can we just take a moment to admire the view? What did we think of True Blood last week? It looks like there is a lot going on this season and I like it already. Plus we saw Eric’s butt – what else did we need?

5. Hubs reading update: He finished Moon Called and immediately started Blood Bound. I’m still in shock. He was even laughing last night as he read. Who is this man?? ;)

Cry Sanctuary (Red Rock Pass, #1)4. Cry Sanctuary, the first book in Moira Rogers’ Red Rock Pass Series is FREE on the Kindle or Nook. Go HERE for details. Keith is one fierce alpha – I heart him.

Bonds of Justice (Psy-Changeling, #8)3. Nalini Singh is giving away an early copy of Bonds of Justice. Go HERE to enter.

2. Brandon Flower’s first solo single, Crossfire is now out. Go HERE to have a little listen. Hubs told me if I played it one more time he was going to confiscate my ipod. I told him to put his hands up and slowly back away. No sudden movements. I then played it again. ;)

1. This little parody of Twilight over at Bookalicious had me cracking up. Wait for her dog to make an appearance. I have 13 tickets pre-ordered to see Eclipse on opening night. I’m excited and I’m not ashamed! (ok, maybe a tiny bit).

I got a freakin heart attack here about KMM pushing back the date but if its to makes sure every single story thread has closure and a story that twice as long, I'm all for it. I'd rather have a satisfying conclusion then anything else but dang, the wait…

I think I'm on board for a re-read too Mandi, by then I could use a refresher course :)

I'm not gonna lie – I got depressed a little bit when I saw your tweet about Shadowfever being pushed back. If the extra 180,000 words are devoted to Barrons and Mac getting it on…I'm cool with it ;)

Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Smexy!!!!

Have a wonderful anniversary weekend ;)

I am going to try and read both KMM's series before January. I believe I have all the books, now just need to get to it. And I'm in full agreement about the pushback on the book. I can wait a little longer if it's going to work out in the end.

I can't wait for Eclipse either!

Mandi, you're so funny. You and Eric's butt should get together. ;)

Thanks for the heads up about the Brandon Flowers single. I didn't even know he was going solo. I feel like a terrible Killers fan now.

Oh no an extra month and a half for Shadowfever? The wait thus far has almost been too much! I need Barrons *sniffles, lol.
Happy Anniversary to you and the hubs :) Hope your deck gets done soon.
I LOVE the Highlander books by KMM. Adam Black was my first highlander ;)
I haven't watched the last episode of True Blood yet but if Eric is showing skin, I am definitely going to catch it, lol.
That Twilight parody had me rofl when she threw the glitter!

The Dark Highlander is my favorite KMM book, with The Immortal Highlander a close second.
Love that your hubby is reading Moon Called and Blood Bound! Yay Smexy's hubby!
I am soooooo sorry to say that I was disappointed by the first episode of True Blood. Sookie's announcement of Bill's kidnapping seemed almost cartoonish. I felt like I was watching one of the Barbie and Ken re-enactments of Twilight all you bloggers have been putting on! I will always have the major hots for Eric, butt… :)

Didn't know about Shadowfever's new release date. January, please come already!

I re-read Fever series before the fourth book and it was such a great way to jump right into that new release. I'm probably not going to re-read it again before Shadowfever, but definitely some time in the future… It is my favorite series!

My favorite from her Highlander books is Dark Highlander. I still remember how Chloe was under his bed :)

    Happy Anniversary!

Was thinking about which of my books hubs reads besides Mercy Thompson…
    Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vamps
    Rachel Vincent's Shifter series
    The Hunger Games series
    The Sookie Stackhouse series
    Jeri Smith-Ready's WVMP Vamp series
He read Ilona Andrews Magic series but didn't care for it (I thought that would be his favorite – go figure!)

I'm a KMM virgin, but not for long… Please tell me where to start.

    Mandi,
Wish you and hubby a great-smexy anniversary ;)

I must say that I expected more from Eric's butt…

Love the cover for Shadowfever, especially when you see how it layered together. I will read it when it comes out, but I am not desperately waiting for it.

Dageus is my favourite Highlander hero too! I daresay that KMM won't go back to writing her highlander romances, but it will be interested to see what Karen does next.
