Favorite Quote: “You know I don’t do madly in love, or happily in love, or any other kind of in love for that matter.”

“Exactly. But you do do orgasms.”

Danika Steffen is more than a little embarrassed that her sisters are openly discussing her lack of orgasms in public at a restaurant. Danika may lack plentiful orgasms in her life, but it is not because she is naive, more that she chooses not to go there with men. After dealing with a very sick mother and subsequent death growing up, Danika now likes her life in order, without messy surprises and emotions, which orgasms and boyfriends can bring. But her sisters are worried about her and have made other plans for this night.

Paramedic Sam Bradford happens to be sitting at the next table, thoroughly enjoying this outrageous conversation next to him. He knows Danika’s sister through the hospital, and he is also well known for his bedroom skills. Danika’s sisters want Sam to give Danika one night of pure pleasure. Danika knows fully well that Sam has been listening in, and when he approaches her about spending the night with him, she surprises him by not acting embarrassed or shy. She is ready to spend one night of pleasure, and then go back to her ordered life.  Or so she thinks.

With the beginning of Just Like That full of orgasm talk and with Sam swooping in ready to show her the night of her life, I got a little nervous. I pictured the entire rest of the book with them in bed full of erotic sex. Which, isn’t necessarily all bad, but I worried for the actual story. But after they leave the bar, Danika ends up breaking her arm, and sexy time goes out the window. All of a sudden I was reading a book full of witty banter, tons of flirting, and hot sexual tension (that yes, eventually leads to the bedroom.)

Sam is such a good hearted hero he made me smile a lot throughout the book. Danika and Sam both have messy family histories which lay heavy on their shoulders. After they build up a little trust with each other, having ample time to do that now that Danika is injured, they are able to be each other’s therapy to work through their issues – accept the past and keep it in the past, so they can move forward.

We get a group of nice supporting characters, although Danika’s sisters are a little over the top in their protectiveness. As I mentioned, it takes a good portion of the book to actually make it to the bedroom with these two and I love the build up. When they finally to make it there, it is worth the wait. Plus Erin Nicholas gives us a butter scene – which turns into something hot and umm…slippery.

Just Like That is a fun, sexy, light-hearted read that I definitely recommend.

A concern I have with books like this is that it will be all about sex. Glad to hear there is more to it. Great review.

I am always drawn to stories where the characters are willing not only to be participants in bed sport but real friends to one another. Sounds like that is true here and is very appealing to me. Will have to look this one up . . . Thanks for the very nice review.
