When I’m Not Reading…..

August 10, 2010 by Mandi 39 Comments

I am slowly dealing with the fact that Lost is over. Sawyer!!! *sobs* Okay, so maybe I am living in denial. I’m still suffering over the end of The Gilmore Girls, but thankfully I get their reruns everyday at 5pm. The only reason my family gets fed dinner is because I can watch Gilmore Girls while I cook. If they take the reruns off, I fear for my family.

Here are a few shows that have entertained me this summer.

True Blood
This one gets talked about a lot, and although it isn’t always my favorite show, this season has been pretty entertaining. Sookie and Bill could disappear and I don’t even think I would notice. I love the addition of the King this year, and HELLO Eric and Talbutt (<–Appropriate spelling, yes?) getting all naked.  – but my absolute favorite character has been Franklin.

He is a crazy bitch. I mean – totally psycho and I loved every second he was on. How dare Tara smash his head in! Is he dead? Is he deformed and out for revenge? *crosses fingers* He can feed me day lilies and make me his vampire bride any day.

Arrested Development

My brother in-law was recently in town and was shocked that we had never watched this show so we watched a few with him and were hooked. Hubs has been putting them on at night, and I tell myself I am going to read, but I can’t help but watch the darn show and laugh. It’s good stuff people. I can’t even pick a favorite actor (ok, maybe Jason Bateman…how cute is he?) – the entire cast is ridiculously funny. I’ll be sad when we finish…but I hear a movie is in the works.

The Blind Side

Hubs wasn’t home one evening recently, so I decided Sandra Bullock and I needed some alone time together. This movie is based off the true story of a family in Texas taking in a homeless teenager, who excels in football. He now plays for the Baltimore Raven’s so I had to see this movie.

It was cute and Sandra Bullock was pretty awesome in it. I didn’t realize until the end that the person that plays Bullock’s husband is Tim McGraw. Wait, what? I don’t follow country music, but I know who Tim McGraw is. But – someone needs to tell him not to leave the house without his hat on. Let’s have a look see:
Tim McGraw, pretty sexy –

Tim McGraw in The Blind Side

Lesson learned – Wear a hat, unbutton your shirt, and keep that facial hair ;)

Any other shows on this summer that are worth putting a book down to watch?

Ok, that had to be one of the funniest blog postings I have read in a long time.

Since I read more than I watch TV, the only show I make time for is True Blood. I am Team Eric all the way. Franklin is one crazy bitch and that actor is phenomenal. The Duke of Missippi is awesome, but I can't wait for Eric to avenge his family completely. Alcide is so hot that I might have to form a Team Alcide to go against Team Bill. And so glad to see that Sookie "came on top" of the situation last episode (wink).

Blind Side was a hit with my family and, yes, Tim McGraw looks better with facial hair and a hat on.

You posted a faboosh blog entry today. Keep up the good work!

    Leontine – Dexter is AWESOME!!!!!!

Anilu – It is fun to watch AD back to back with no commercials..but I do wish it had been on longer.

Natascha – Alcide is mighty fine…and James Frain who plays Franklin is awesome. I have been stalking him online :)

The Blind Side was such a feel good movie that had me in tears. When they showed the real pictures and tv footage, I cried like a baby.

The summer for me is Mad Men. Cannot get enough of that show!

Mandi, when I am not reading I am on my computer reading blogs or researching or writing blog posts.. TV the only thing am watching this summer is the new ABC show on Sunday nights at 9 "The Gates", at least until Vampire Diaries new season comes on. I also watch some movies on PPV occasionally and when my husband has the remote it is on Billy The Exterminator and The Pawn Guys or Dirty Jobs. You know the mindless "guy" shows that you can tune out and read a book to….

I love this post too it was a nice way to change things up. Tim McGraw looks much much better with the hat, facial hair and loosely buttoned shirt. In the movie photo he came across as way too clean cut and geeky! Oh well, that is Hollyweird!!

I found these, only knew about 2 of them so am out of the loop too!
    Actor Credits for Tim McGraw
    Country Strong (2010)
The Blind Side (2009) Sean Tuohy
    Four Christmases (2008) Dallas
In the Valley of Elah (2007)
    The Kingdom (2007) Aaron Jackson

Black Cloud (2004) Sheriff Cliff Powers
Friday Night Lights (2004) Charles Billingsley

I am all about the True Blood and there is plenty of Twitter evidence to prove it. :) I've got my fingers crossed for Franklin and I am so going to miss Talbot's hissy fits.

The one other show I am hooked on this summer is Leverage. Someone on Twitter said we need to start a drinking game for every time Elliot says "Dammit Hardison!"

True Blood has been a little iffy for me this season. The gore…or the gore. I do love Franklin, he's on the top of my list of favorite crazy bitches that's for sure.

Since my hubby is a bit of a TV hog I read while he watches TV so I don't have a lot of favorite summer series. It works for us. :)

Hmmm…the only 2 shows I am watching regularly right now are True Blood and Jersey Shore (I know, I know, I just can't help it!). I gave up on Entourage a few seasons ago when I realized I was watching the same 27 minutes every week. So now, I am patiently waiting for Boardwalk Empire and East Bound and Down to start on HBO. Oh, and Friday night lights is on right now. Yummmm…Riggins.

Loved Blind Side! I also loved 500 days of summer, it's on the movie channels right now.

I still haven't forgiven the CW for canceling 'Veronica Mars'. I miss my Logan!

'Modern Family' has become my new obsession (it's like 'Arrested Development', but more mainstream) as has the new BBC show 'Sherlock'.

What, no Glee? I love Glee! Hmmm. I'm watching Season 1 of Supernatural ATM and Season 2 of Fringe. Love Pacey…I mean Peter *grin*

One day I might get around to watching True Blood. Couldn't get into the books *ducks* and Bill doesn't do anything for me, but I keep seeing photos of other characters here…

I don't really watch much TV sadly, my daughter hogs it :)I do like Phineas and Ferb though.

I tried True Blood when it came on but didn't realy get into the books so I don't enjoy the show all that much either.

Has anyone seen Rizzoli and Isles yet? I've actually been meaning to watch it and keep missing it.

I haven't been hooked on a drama or sit com in ages. Used to love Arrested Development (then it was cancelled – so sad). But lately I've been a TLC/Discovery/HGTV/History type of gal.

Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta – the mom's make the show.
Louie CK – On Comedy Central. It's on tonight at 11pm (…yeah, it needs to be on that late, but the sarcastic humor is nuts funny).
American Pickers and Pawn Stars on History Channel- Chumlee rocks, and the shows are ridiculously addictive.
House Hunters – I've gotten really good at guessing the house the people end up buying. :)

And Tim McGraw definitely needs to keep the hat and facial hair ;)

I am strangely attracted to Franklin's craziness, but Eric is the hottest guy on the show. The only thing that would make the show better would be to just get rid of the girls and let the boys loose on each other. I was disappointed that the Eric/Talbutt scene didn't go further. ;)

I love Criminal Minds. I just wish Morgan and Reid would hook up. HOT!

    Modern Family…need to watch!

KC – I HOPE he is still alive..and really pissed off.

Orannia – No Glee…although everyone on Twitter talks about it. I am also writing down that you like McGraw's facial hair!!! ;)

Destiny – I have not seen that show…

my kids like P and F too :)

Ava – I LOVE Say yes to the dress, and House Hunters. I could watch those shows all day :)

Eyre – Eric is hot. Really hot. I like him this season. I can't wait to see how Talbutt's demise plays in!!

Jason has been making fun of my for watching Glee this past season. Well, a couple of his best (guy) friends watch it and told him he should too. So, suddenly, it doesn't 'suck-a**' so much and he's agreed to watch the re-runs with me. I really only watch 3 shows now because TV cuts into reading and blogging time! I heart The Big Bang Theory, Glee and The Rick Mercer Show (Canadian show) :)

*shaking head* I don't watch that much TV. I'm usually reading. Commercials really bother me, they always get in the way, but I DO NOT MISS TRUE BLOOD! Don't call me, don't talk to me; nothing! Nope, Franklin is not dead. Tara used a mace on his head. If she wanted him dead, she should have taken the axe off of the wall and used that to separate his head from his body instead.

Mandi, James Frain was excellent in THE TUDORS. He lost his head there too.

With the intro of Joe (Alcide) to TRUE BLOOD, I've jumped on the Alcide Babe bandwagon. But when it comes to Charlaine's novels, I'm an Eric Babe all the way!

If you didn't look closey for Tim McGraw in FOUR CHRISTMASES, you would miss him. Not his typical role. Funny!

I can't help loving Franklin! Is it horrible of me to say I hope he's not dead? When I first saw him I though "Ugh – so not cute", but now…Rowr! (I think it's the voice…and the crazy)

BTW, Alcide is waaayyyy overdressed for a were – he really should do the shirtless a bit more, just sayin'

Sadly, aside from TrueBlood I mostly catch bits of cartoons. I am currently in love with Adventure Time and Total Drama Island. *sigh*
