Favorite Quote: "For a space of a heartbeat they hovered, suspended, somewhere between heaven and earth. And then they were shattering into millions of glittering, golden pieces before drifting like gold dust to the ground.”
Riley Mason learned how to take care of herself at an early age; being a single mom with an explosive secret. When she applies and gets the job on the McCord ranch she never expects Zane McCord.
Zane McCord, the playboy of the McCord cousins, lives as free as the mustangs he raises on his family’s ranch. But Riley tempts and challenges him in the way no other woman ever has.
As Zane attempts to win her trust and her heart; a secret from Riley’s past will place them all in terrible danger. Riley and Zane will have to confront the one thing they fear most in order to have a future together.
The 3rd installment of Ryan’s sizzling bad boy McCord series is a sweet, romantic, and suspenseful contemporary. Montana Glory tells us Zane McCord’s story and the woman who tames him; Riley Mason. A fast paced and smoothly told story filled with intriguing likable characters and heartwarming scenes that captured my attention from the first page. Ms. Ryan’s stories hold an appeal for me because she paints a vivid and realistic picture of her characters and submerges us into their lives.
Even though this could be read as a stand alone, Ms. Ryan doesn’t forget about her previous heroes & heroines. They are alive and well in Zane and Riley’s story and add humor and love to the story. There are 4 story lines here that intertwine and feed each other to an exciting finale. Riley and Zane, a second smaller love interest, and not 1 but 2 mysteries.
Riley and Zane connected for me right from the start. Even though we know from previous books that Zane is a player, he comes off different with Riley. He gets to know her first and finds friendship with a woman he is attracted to to be an intoxicating and new feeling for him. Add Riley’s adorable daughter Summer to the mix and this cowboy has your heart going pitter patter.
I love how confused and unsettled the attraction makes both Riley and Zane.
Riley’s reactions to Zane are believable. She is attracted to him but she knows she and her daughter may have to leave at anytime. Plus, her daughter comes first so she is not looking for any one night stands. She comes off a little rigid in the beginning but her background story explains that thoroughly and your amazed she’s as open and well adjusted as she is.
Summer, Riley’s little girl, makes the story very sweet . An adorable 4 year old that makes the ranch & town her new home and it’s inhabitants her family.
The story centers around Riley and Zane for the most part while the “mysteries” seem to be only touched upon here and there. I wish Riley’s mystery had been developed more through out the story. Little tidbits are dropped through out the story but in an off hand manner that made it easy to over look them. It was too quickly cleared up and solved. I would have liked to seen more action and suspense resulting from it.
All in all a sweet romantic story that is perfect for a lazy day where you have all the time in the world to dream of sexy cowboys and the women they love.

Sounds like a good book and now I really want to get my hands on a copy!

I agree, very sweet and romantic. I also thought the whole mystery was wrapped up too quickly especially since we've been waiting for them to solve the main mystery throughout the series. Nice review Tori.

Smokinhotbooks-LOL Nothing like a hot cowboy to make a day better.
Ally-Thanks. There are 2 before it that are good also.
FV-Yes, I blinked and the mystery was solved. :( Oh well-Zane was HAWT so all is forgiven.

Thank you Tori! Hmmm, I do like that quote…and cowboys :) And it's nice to know the relationship is front and centre – sometimes I think the relationship can get lost when there is so much going on externally.

This was a cute book – I like it enough that I picked up the first two in the series that I haven't read.

I agree completely! Sometimes you just have to while away a few hours with an uncomplicated book and a cowboy. Men in hats!!! ;)

Loooove those cowboys–just find myself sort of surprised that I do like Western contemporary romance, and am now even finding a growing interest in historicals based in the old post-Civil War West as well. Very good review–always like to drop by for your postings.

I just have never been able to find the appeal of cowboys… maybe because I dislike country music so much?! But your review makes this book a bit more appealing. Thanks!

orannia-Thank you. I agree.
Patti- They are cute.
Dr J-Thank you. have found myself becoming more enamored w/them myself.
Twimom227-I have found I enjoy the more modern western contemps. Historical westerns still scare me. :P
