Smexy’s Top Ten–January 21st

January 21, 2011 by Mandi 20 Comments

10. I’m sick of snow!!! There I said it. You all knew it was coming. I can’t believe we still have February to get through! It is not like Maryland gets a ton of snow, but we get these 3-4 inches every few days, which closes down everything around here. My kids only had one full day of school this week. Mommy needs her two hours of quiet time during the day! It’s always nice when I start off my top ten list whining and complaining, yes?

Cover A9. Coming this fall, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star. Really. The above is one of two cover images you can vote on – HERE. Elizabeth, Charlotte and Jane go on tour with Darcy and Bingley. Really. NO REALLY. And no – I will NOT be reading this book. Really. Can’t we just leave Jane Austen alone…please.

8.  Now, for a book I can’t wait to read!!! The Vampire Voss by Colleen Gleason. It’s the start of a new series, in her words: “In 2011 readers will meet a whole new world of vampires who mingle with the haute ton in 19th century London. Called the Draculia, these vampires are strong and sexy, and a match for any mortal…except for the women who love them.”

It looks like this trilogy, The Vampire Voss, The Vampire Dimitri, and The Vampire Narcise will come out one right after the other starting in April. Go HERE to read the blurbs. Colleen also wrote one of my favorite series – The Gardella Vampire Chronicles. I can’t wait to start this one! (The Vampire Voss is available on NetGalley).

7. Patti, from Book Addict was lucky enough to be able to go to New Orleans for the Shadowfever release party! She has a few tidbits at her site from the signing. Go HERE to read all about it. It looks like KMM is going to take a little break before she starts on another book – but it looks like one set in the fever world is promising!

6. So I LOVE gnomes. I collect them. I am very picky about them however – they must have this look to them:

And while I don’t love animated movies, I MUST go see Gnomeo and Juliet. How cute is it!!

5. The Book Binge alerted me to the cover of Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn. It’s going to be the first Smythe-Smith book! Go HERE to read the blurb. It releases in May.

4. Very good news from Carolyn Crane – Book #3 of her Disillusionists Trilogy has found a home. I don’t know the details of why it is not being published through Spectra, but the important news is that Carolyn has found a new publisher and I am so happy for her!! Mind Games and Double Cross were my two favorite books of 2011!! I hope we get many, many, many more books from Carolyn Crane in the future! Go HERE to read about it on her blog.

3. I LOVE Ricky Gervais. LOVE HIM. So of course I had to watch the opening of the Golden Globes. And yes, he totally delivered in making every actor squirm!

2. Speaking of the Golden Globes – OH HAI Jon Hamm. Smexy Beast.

1. Yay – Friday! All of my family has the stuffy nose thing going on..but it’s Friday – who cares! This weekend I am reading The Kensei by Jon Merz and Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks <—so excited to finally be reading this author!! Happy Friday!

I have to say, I'm super super excited about the new Julia Quinn, but I think I like her UK cover better than the US one.

My friend's sister is an extra on Mad Men and she says John is such a sweet guy. He rocks my socks off.

Gnomes scare me. They remind me of the thing in Cat's Eye that was lurking around Drew Barrymore's bedroom trying to kill her.

I agree-leave Jane Austin alone. It's done. It's over. That boat has sailed and made 50 million stops.

Gnomes are awesomelicious. You must get the Gnome book. It's hilarious and packed full of gnome facts. Some you will wish you didn't know.

Ricky Gervais is the man. Totally. I say he gets all the award MC jobs from now on.

Yea to Carolyn Crane and Team Packard!!!

*whispers* I don't know who Jon Hamm is. But he is fine.

#9 – I voted for that cover! I don't think I'll be reading it either; I'm haven't even read anything by Jane Austen. Yet.

#7 – Oh! You just reminded me that I can read Patti's post now since I've finished reading SF!!

Have a great weekend! Hope the snow lets up :)

Ricky Gervais's best moment? – introducing Ashton Kutcher as Bruce Willis's son. YES!!!

I wish the celebs would get over their hurt feelings and realize that Ricky KILLED it at the Globes, and had everyone at home cackling with glee!

P.S. – It's a good thing I didn't know Carolyn Crane was having publisher problems… if there was any worry that we wouldn't get book #3 (considering the CLIFF-HANGER of #2!) I may have had heart palpitations!
