Smexy’s Top Ten–February 18th

February 18, 2011 by Mandi 31 Comments

10. My Week – it is 60 degrees out. I have no complaints! I’m pretending that it is not going to be in the 30’s again next week. Let me have my fantasy that spring is here!

9. I have a new favorite show – Shameless on Showtime. Hubs started watching it and after a few episodes sat me down and made me watch the first one – and I LOVE IT!! It is about an alcoholic single father (William H. Macy) and his six kids and they are very poor. Sounds hilarious, right? LOL – no – it has very funny moments, and very sad moments. But overall it is very entertaining…and explicit. Every time a sex scene comes on, hubs turns to me and says – see, I said you would like this show. Hubs! I like shows more for just the sex scenes. *ahem* What? I do! Okay fine – we see a lot of this dude nekkid *waggles eyebrows*

The casting is fantastic. Joan Cusack plays this totally whacked out neighbor. I love her. Go to Showtime On Demand to catch up!

8. AWESOME Cover Alert – My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. Zomg I need this book!!! Go HERE for more info. Releasing this July.

7. Thanks to Has Bookpusher, who keeps me in the know of SO many book related topics – I have found out that Warren and Kyle of Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series will be getting their own novella!! This makes me oh so very happy. It will be in the anthology out this October – Down These Strange Streets. Go HERE for more info.

6. So I lust after Richard Armitage – sometimes I like to refer to him as Dick. What? It’s a nickname for Richard! Best known (to me) from his role in North & South (among many other films/tv series) he is quite the stud. Now I know many others have similar feelings – girls and boys I have discovered two pictures of his naked bum. Yes – I said NAKED BUM! Want to see? Oh you do? Well – go HERE and HERE. (obviously NSFW. I believe this is from his show, Between the Sheets).

Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark, #11)5. Bells, from Hanging With Bells found some good information from a Kresley Cole Interview – Highlights include:

Spin off series from IAD is coming (featuring a very dangerous faction of the Lore). There are also a minimum of four more books in this series, although it sounds like this series might be open ended – yay!

Lothaire’s Bride is….(In Cole’s words)
I will definitely give you more details about her well before his book’s released, but right now it’s Regin Time! She would be very upset if some vamp’s Bride stole her thunder! (edited to add: but I will say this, his heroine is probably not who you’re thinking it is…)

If a book about Nïx is coming…(In Cole’s words)

I’m getting the feeling that some of you . . . enjoy the character of Nïx? :) The Ever Knowing One will absolutely get her own book, but she still has a lot of work to do for the Accession, so it’ll come later in the series. She gets lots of screen time in Dreams of a Dark Warrior though!

Go HERE to read full interview. She was also interviewed with her editor HERE.

Beardheads by Beardhead

4. Is there a word awesome enough to describe The Beardhead???? OMG! I need this like yesterday!

Beardheads by Beardhead

I could have a beard and a ‘stache for $24.95! This excites Smexy very much. Go HERE to place your order. (PS – Mom, I expect you to knit this for my birthday!)

Talker (Talker, #1)3. Thanks to a recommendation from a blogging friend, I read the m/m  novella, Talker by Amy Lane a few days ago. Really enjoyed it. I’ve been wanting to try Amy Lane for some time now. This is a very emotional book for such a short story. And yes, Talker, or Tate does have a tattoo on his face. :) I am actually reading the sequel right now. I posted a review on Goodreads HERE. I definitely recommend it. Amazon.

2. Have you been keeping up with JR Ward’s Quotes of the Day from Lover Unleashed – Go HERE to see them all. Two very notable ones for me:

Butch and Vishous:

“Yup.” Butch grinned and raised his glass. “You want another
round.”
“You bet your balls.”

I swear I will never be able to read enough about Vishous. Throw Butch in there and I’m in heaven y’all.

Qhuinn (we don’t know who he is speaking to – my guess is that he is talking to Layla)

When he took his palms away, there was a slickness left behind, one that he refused to think too much about.
“I’m in love,” he hoarsely. “With someone else. That’s why.”

OH Qhuinn!! Oh Blay!! Oh Qhuay!!! How you hurt me so. How will we survive another book with no HEA for them???

One other note – she stated last week merchandise should be out at the end of March for BDB stuff!

1. Today is my Sister in-law’s birthday! I love her so. We are going out to dinner to celebrate tonight. This weekend I am diving into Tempt Me by Shiloh Walker and Captive by Christina Phillips. Happy Friday!

I completely claim credit on spreading the Dicklove. Or at least want custody of his body for…um…a night. Or two. Maybe a month.

The Beardhead! (Some people, who knit, evidently have way too much time on their hands…). I'm guessing the people who made this up were stoned and armed with knitting needles.

Don't be jealous, but Richard Armitage is in my neck of the woods (New Zealand) ATM filming the hobbit. He plays a dwarf…

I have found out that Warren and Kyle of Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series will be getting their own novella!!

    *happy dancing*

Am so glad you liked Talker. Keeping Promise Rock is still my favourite Amy Lane book to date. It put me through the wringer – I couldn't put it down – but I adored it! I'd love to be part of Crick & Deacon's family.

I am totally not a zombie reader but I preordered Rowland's new book based on the cover and the fact that I can't resist white trash stuff (although I had a reader scold me for referring to my white trash werewolves. I said I'm second generation post-white trash on my father's side and I can use the term as much as I want, so there).

May can't get here fast enough – Vishous! Vishous! Vishous!

A sister in law you love is a huge blessing. I've got some, and they mean the world to me.
