Two years ago, Cash lost his mate and abandoned his Montana pack. Now, he has found a reason to return. Rylie, daughter of the Wyoming Alpha, life has been uprooted. In less than twenty four hours, she has discovered her mate, Layne, refused him, and watched him kill her entire family to claim her. And now, she is on the run.
On her journey to free herself from Layne, destiny brings her Cash, a wolf determined to give her aid to right his wrongs. But how far will he go? When Rylie’s life is on the line, will he forget his pain to save her or will his loss seal her fate?
A Broken Bond is a novella that gives us a quick glimpse into this Montana werewolf pack. I think the blurb does a nice job at summarizing. Even though this is pretty short, I liked the romance in this one. Cash feels guilty for leaving his pack for the last two years because of the grief over his mate. So when the opportunity to help Rylie arises, he accepts. All he has to do is mate with her, which will break the bond she has with her old abusive alpha, so she can live a peaceful life. They plan to be friends…at first. But of course to complete the mating the smexy smex has to happen, and they realize there may be a deeper connection.
We don’t get a deep look into this werewolf pack, but we come to know Cash, his alpha and Rylie pretty well. I wish Layne, Rylie’s abusive alpha would have played a bigger role. Or that maybe she truly feared him a little more. He literally destroyed her entire family and I didn’t feel her pain of loss or the fear of him finding her. I also think the big conflict with him at the end could have played out bigger. So while I liked the romance, the suspense part falls a little short.
Overall this is a fun, hot novella and I think I would like to read a full length from this world.
