Kristin Reed is a reporter for the Pacific New Tribune and is desperate for a big story soon, or she will be out of a job. There have been a string of murders recently, dubbed the “Bloodless Murders,” and she feels if she can get to the bottom of these crimes, this might save her job. Her investigation leads her to the club, Sojurn which is a darker club known to be a fun place to hang out of wannabe vampires – or so she thinks.

As she noses around the club she meets Dmitri. He shows her around the club and answers questions for her. Unknown to Kristin, Dmitri is a vampire. He is trejan for his clan, responsible for keeping their secrecy and safety. He knows the Bloodless Murders have vampire involvement and he has been on high alert to keep mortals suspicions away. But his leader is toying with the idea of making vampires public, and Kristin might just be the vessel they need to bring this information public. But not all vampires are happy about this news and Kristin soon finds herself in danger. She also finds herself very attracted to the sexy Dmitri.

The Truth About Vampires is a pretty straight forward paranormal romance. A little predictable and nothing new nor really exciting about the world although I like the beginning of the book. My biggest complaint is that Kristin comes to trust Dmitri way too easily. I liked her investigative nature, but I also question why she immediately felt safe with him. Especially after she finds out he is a vampire. How does she know he won’t harm her? The idea of a vampire is completely new to her. She has a lot of questions for him, but her trust never wavers.

The pace does slow down a bit once Kristin makes her way into Dmitri’s lair – it is here we get a lot of the how’s and why’s of the vampire life. Like I said the villain doesn’t hold a lot of surprises. I think a better look at the world, whether it is ready or not for the admission of vampires and how it will impact human life might have been a nicer build up.

Hmm I'm still interested in reading this book but it sounds like something I'd get to later down the line.

I've run into a few run of the mill pnr's lately. Not sure if it's me getting bored with the genre or if there really is lack of anything fresh out there.

I have this in my TBR pile, guess after I'm done reading my current stuff, I'll read this one. Move it up to the top of this list.
