Favorite Quote: “We are in a shitload of trouble, Alek Trevian.” Lyndi whispered, inching her body closer to his mouth.
“That Lyndi Crisdean, is a sorry understatement.”
Lyndi Crisdean is a successful defense attorney. Although she works with her ex-husband, she is able to stay semi-civil with him and it hasn’t hindered her career. She has recently been handed a very tough case, currently with a kidnapping charge that could change to a serial killer case if the right evidence is brought to trial. She discovers one of the city’s best prosecutors will be opposing her, as well as the city’s lead investigator, Alek Trevian.
One look between Alek and Lyndi and passion flares. They try to avoid a physical relationship (okay, Alek doesn’t – but Lyndi tries!) but with Alek’s nudging, Lyndi gives in knowing her career is on the line. Lyndi is going to need Alek in her life – he not only brings out deep feelings, but she comes to the attention of a stalker, who may be tied-in with dangerous cult activity within the city. Alek is there to protect her, but he also has dark secrets of his own.
With a few exceptions, I enjoyed Written in Blood. Alek is one of those high-powered, slick, sexy working machines. Lyndi can’t help but to be attracted to his good looks, even though he has a darker edge and keeps secrets about his personal life from her. Their romance is risky – the lead defense attorney paired with the lead investigator for the prosecution is definitely a conflict of interest. So they have that super secret, forbidden love affair – yummy. Alek is very intense, and broody and I kind of dug him.
Lyndi is a pretty decent heroine. She has been married four times in ten years then falling for a man who has never been married with a lot of baggage – seems a bit of a reach – but this is a romance book so I went with it. There were a few instances that kind of jarred me out of the story. At one point out of the blue, Alek takes Lyndi to an underground sex club – they each had to wear a mask and of course Alek here gives Lyndi “the greatest moment of physical pleasure in her life.” At this point in the story Lyndi doesn’t know Alek that well so it seemed far fetched that she would be aroused enough in this atmosphere to get it on with Alek. Later in the story you understand why Alek would go to this sort of place, but I still never believed Lyndi would be comfortable enough there for that kind of exhibition.
The suspense unfolds nicely and at the end I believed in Alek and Lyndi’s love story. I enjoyed that because Alek is a tough sell – but Elaina Lee makes him work. I hope to read more from her in the future.

Great blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!
