Ok. First off let me say if I had a mirror like this I would never leave my house. With that being said, Mirrorlight by Jill Myles is a cute modern fairy tale-esque story about a young woman who has coasted in life and a young man who’s choices in life left him trapped in time. Can Cora gather the courage to free her fantasy man? Or will she once again let life and love pass her by?
Cora Grames seems to have just given up on life. No job and no boyfriend has landed her house sitting a “haunted” castle in England for her aunt. A job her mother got for her. As Cora explores the castle she can’t help but feel as though something is watching her. When she finally falls asleep she dreams of a mysterious man, only to awake and see him in the mirror that faces her bed. Convinced the castle is really haunted, she is visited by the neighbor-Muffins-who not only believes she saw someone in the mirror but tries to help her figure out who it is.
Every night Cora’s mystery man comes to her, revealing a little more of himself each time. As Cora becomes more infatuated with him, she does some investigating and finds out he is none other then Aric de Beauchamp; an original owner from the middle ages.
Determined to do more then just dream of Aric, Cora starts a campaign of pure seduction and will power to bring her fantasy to life.
A cute erotic story that made me laugh out loud and pant a bit. FasSmashwordst pacing with a easy plot. Heavy sexual tension blends well into the storyline as we watch our protagonists tease, seduce, and discover each other. The outlandish Muffin was my favorite character. Her chicken noodle soup killed me. She was also the most fleshed out. While I enjoyed Cora and Aric’s story, I had a hard time connecting with Cora and Aric themselves. Cora comes off as immature and flighty and you really don’t get anything from Aric. He’s as nondescript as the mirror. I would have enjoyed more interaction with Aric.
All in all a light weight erotic story that will have you peeking into every mirror in your house to see what happens.
