Helyce is back with another guest review!

Three Sinful Wishes is my first read by R. G. Alexander and I really enjoyed it! It’s written in three short stories, each focusing on one couple (or threesome), but the characters and stories flow very well together and feels more like a novel with really long chapters.

Dani, Bailey and Kaya are good friends who live in Sedona, AZ. Each of these women has issues that they are dealing with in their personal lives-Dani is trying to escape her past, Bailey is searching for a home and belonging, and Kaya, a Native American, struggling with her commitment to her familial obligations while at the same time wanting a life of he own. One night, after a bit too much Sangria the girls get a little loose lipped and start sharing some of their sexual fantasies. They seem surprised to learn that they’ve each been having some very erotic dreams. Kaya has a physic gift and Bailey and Dani often look to her explain things that don’t make sense. Kaya usually knows things before they are voiced anyway. It is in the midst of this discussion, when the women are sharing their most intimate thoughts that they look up to find three falling stars, and their wishes are cast.

Sinful Desires is the story of Dani and Liam. Dani and Liam have been friends for years. When Dani found herself in a bad situation, Liam was there for her, getting her out of town fast and helping her do what was necessary to get her life back on track. They’ve been in Sedona for a year now and Dani is absolutely clueless to the fact that Liam has been in love with her for a long time. He fights his feelings because he knows what Dani is dealing with and it just never seems like the right time. They are comfortable with each other and from the outside looking in they look like a couple-only without the sex. It takes a huge spider in the shower one morning, Dani’s blood curdling scream, and Liam slamming into the bathroom to “rescue” her in all her naked, wetness for Dani to notice Liam as a man and not just her good friend. Even then, though, she runs, not wanting to deal with all the new “feelings” she suddenly has for Liam. Kaya and Bailey both try to get her to open her eyes and really see Liam, but it takes a stranger named Stax to push them toward each other. Stax is a friend of Liam’s friends Nick and Jace and there is something about him that draws you to him. He’s compelling and Liam finds himself talking to Stax about his feelings for Dani. Stax is much more than he appears to be but with his help Dani and Liam find their way to each other and make Dani’s wish come true.

Sinful Sensations is the story of Bailey and Cameron. Bailey runs the Enchanted Inn, but don’t let the name fool you. It’s pretty run down, but for Bailey it’s the closest thing to a home that she’s ever had. She loves the place and works hard doing almost everything herself, hiring out only when absolutely necessary. When the owner decides to sell, she tries to buy it herself but can’t raise the capital and it’s purchased by someone else. From what she’s heard, the new owner tends to lose interest once a property is acquired so she’s totally unprepared when the owner, Cameron Locke, shows up to check on his new acquisition late one evening. She makes a fabulous first impression when he arrives late one night to find her hanging out of the attic door, the ladder fallen over, with her in nothing but a t-shirt and her Superman underwear. Cam is so not what Bailey expected and Bailey is absolutely nothing like she was described to Cam by the previous owner and their attraction to each other is immediate. Bailey doesn’t know it, but Cam only came to town to check out the place, see what needed fixing, get it arranged so he could flip it and get back to his playboy lifestyle. But he’s intrigued by Bailey and her quirkiness and he decides to stick around for a bit and see how things go. Cam and his friend/assistant Davide have a lot to do with making Bailey’s wish upon a star come true.

Sinful Pleasures is the story of Kaya, Jace and Nick. Kaya is a Native American Hopi Indian who is torn between two worlds. She believes in everything about her heritage that she was taught growing up, but she lives away from the reservation, choosing to make a life for herself on her own. She works two jobs and sends money home to her aunt who is raising her younger brother and sister. She has a strong psychic talent and she’s not comfortable using her talent to make money, but it allows her to help support her family on the reservation. Kaya and Jace work together and Kaya has had a crush on Jace for a while; she won’t act on it though and she has no clue how Jace feels about her. Nick is Jace’s roommate and he’s had a crush on Kaya for a long time but he’s struggling with a major issue in his life and that makes him hold back from telling Kaya how he feels. Needless to say, it’s made Jace and Nick’s relationship difficult, but Jace is tired of waiting around and he makes a move that surprises Kaya and Nick and goes a long way to making Kaya’s wish come true.

I really enjoyed Three Sinful Wishes. I especially liked how the author weaved in some Native American folklore within the story. Of the three, my favorite would be Sinful Desires because I love the friends to lovers theme with Kaya, Jace and Nick’s story being a close second. I’ll definitely be checking out R.G. Alexander’s other books!

Thanks Orannia! I haven’t seen a lot of stories with Native American folklore-but when I do it’s always very enjoyable!

Nice review Helyce! Sounds like a good book, with three lovely stories. I also like the friends to lovers story line best.
