Smexy’s Top Ten–July 22nd

July 22, 2011 by Mandi 41 Comments

10. My week – It is something like 110 degrees out. I think the low for Baltimore last night barely made it out of the 90’s. Yeah, not cool Mother Nature.

Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1)9. Great news for Stacia Kane fans – she announced on her blog that there will be a fifth book in her Downside series. Book four, Sacrificial Magic is scheduled to come out March 27th. (Read chp one here).  Book five will be called Chasing Magic. If you haven’t read this series I definitely recommend. Book one, Unholy Ghosts is good, but book two and three will blow you away. The heroine Chess is addicted to drugs – throughout the entire series which turns off some people, but I think it makes her very different. And the hero’s name is Terrible. And I lurve him. :)

8. So happy to read that there will be a fourth Nice Girls book from Molly Harper!! Nice Girls Don’t Bite Their Neighbors is due out this coming March! No cover yet, but you can read the blurb on her site. I adore the first three books in this series (Starting with Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs). So funny!! Definitely recommend if you haven’t read them.

Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2)7. Yes, I know that is an extremely tiny picture – if you get real close and squint it is the new cover for Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas out this January. Go to her blog for the blurb. I couldn’t find a bigger picture! This will be book two in her Friday Harbor series. I have yet to read a Kleypas contemporary – but I swear I will read a Travises book soon. SOON!!! I love her historicals. Love Come to Me, first printed in 1988, will be rereleased at the end of August.

6. Cover Alert – Infatuation – A Little Harmless Military Romance coming from Melissa Schroeder this November. For more info go here.

5. I saw Harry Potter this weekend. I absolutely loved it. I’m a huge fan of the books, and the movie did them proud. Now, I know last week I was all about Neville and how he has turned into a dashing young man. But I’m so over that. Because – as I sat in the theater with my 3-D glasses on, all of a sudden, a tired, worn out Lucius Malfoy appeared on the screen. Now obviously, I’ve seen Lucius in the previous movies – but Smexy sat a little straighter in her chair. She took notice. Something about that defeated Jason Isaacs made Smexy do a little sexy smile to herself. I want to help him redeem himself with no clothes on– that’s all I’m sayin’. ;)

4. Speaking of Harry Potter – Alan Rickman. Oh le sigh how I love him. I found this audio of Alan Rickman reading Shakespeare’s Sonnet 130. Turn up the volume and try not to swoon on top of your keyboard. Go HERE. Shivers.

3. Sherlock Holmes 2 this December. If I could doodle winkies hearts on my computer screen I would. RDJ = sexy. Need I say more?

2. Anderson Cooper, my beloved Silver Fox is coming to daytime. He is THE NEW OPRAH. Hot damn. From his site:

….Anderson will offer a fresh perspective on issues and social trends affecting women’s lives. “Anderson” will be a daily destination for multiple generations of women, a place where viewers can gain insight, and connect with each other and the world around them.

He needs a best friend, right? Oprah had Gayle. He needs Smexy. I could give insight damn it. We could talk about moobs, and hot and hairy men. Maybe we could take a road trip together. Oh the possibilities. And if you don’t already think he is absolutely adorable, watch this:

1. My weekend – Date night with the hubs tonight :) I believe a wine bar is in my future. I’m also reading Bloodlands by Christine Cody. I’m intrigued with the blurb on this one. Will report back :) Happy Friday!!!

I’ve loved ACoop since ChannelOne!!! That makes me old, I think.

You should certainly read Kleypas’ Travises — so good. I didn’t like Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor as much (was really disappointed actually), so I’m not sure I’ll pick up the second book of the series.

I have to agree with you on #5. Hot as Neville turned out, I’ve always had a bit of a thing for bad-boy Lucius.

Looking forward to Sherlock Holmes as well. Enjoy your night out.

Thank god for internet on my phone. Great top ten Mandi! So excited about A Cooper’s new show. Especially after seeing that pic of him tied to a chair with what can only be described as an impressive package completely visible through his pants. I’m looking at him in an entirely new light!

It’s definitely not for everyone – but I do think bk 2 and 3 are better than bk 1. I know some look for the heroine to change (ie – not be a druggie anymore) – that is not going to happen.

It’s hot in So. California as well, but thank the powers that be we are dealing with about 20% humidity here in the High Desert (the edge of the Mojave Desert). Also delighted to see some of the new books–love Mollie Harper and Melissa Schroeder. Enjoyed the info as well as your “take” on what’s happening. And I, too, love Harry Potter. I used to grab the books out of my granddaughter’s hands about 20 seconds after she finished reading them. Stay cool . . .

I hear you about the heat! We aren’t far from B’more either and have been enduring the sweltering heat. Found a frog in our mini pool, and the girls keep putting cool water in so ‘Freddy’ wouldn’t boil alive…
I have always had a thing for Lucius. (Almost spells like luscious…hmm….) it his eyes that do it for me….

Holy crap Smexy, I agree, it is unbearable here in Baltimore!! Its so humid i can barely breathe! I’ve locked myself inside, enjoying cold beer, AC & some smokin’ hot books.

I love Harry Potter, the final movie was amazing.!!! Did anyone else cry like a baby at the end?? I feel like its the end of my childhood. Alan Rickmans performance was just awesome!!

You will love the Travises series, its fantastic. I enjoy Lisa’s books so much.

    Have a great weekend…stay cool!

I thought I had read all of Lisa Kleypas’s older historicals, but the blurb for Love Come to Me doesn’t sound familiar at all. I’ll have to look for it in August when it releases.

Alan Rickman reading Shakespeare – big swoon!! Though my fav movie with him is Galaxy Quest. ;)

I wish you would send some of that heat my way Smexy! It is cool and very very wet here in Holland for the time of year, more like October. I just turned on the central heating system!

I love Lisa Kleypas, but really did not like her first contemporary book, and still haven’t read the other two, though they are on my shelves. I love that her oldest books are being republished, as they are nowhere to be found anymore.

    How was your datenight?
