What’s your favorite movie kiss? 80’s edition

As an erotic romance writer, sometimes I need a little inspiration. Music helps a lot. Certain melodies and lyrics match up well with the story I’m trying to tell and help me get the words on the page.
Other times I need something more visual. I’ll admit, I don’t watch a lot of movies so the ones I love most tend to be ones from the 70’s and 80’s, back when I watched them more often. Plus there’s just something about the movies you grew up with that makes them special. There’s nothing quite like first loves and first kisses, is there?
I picked three of my favorite movie kisses, ones I turn to time and again when I’m trying to capture that excitement and innocence of the first kiss on the page. And yep, these kisses are all from 80’s movies. These aren’t my only favorites, but these three definitely worked for me as a pre-teen and teenager…and they still do today.
Some of these aren’t the actual kiss in their entirety. #2, unfortunately, is only one scene of many in a “best of” clip. YouTube was not my friend when I put together this post. Hopefully you’ll get the gist.
#3 Jake and Samantha’s kiss at the end of Sixteen Candles
I love Sixteen Candles. The amount of times I’ve watched it – many of those times as an adult – is a little disturbing. When I like something, I tend to enjoy it again and again. And again. Though I wouldn’t want to return to high school, Sixteen Candles captures it in all its traumatic, wonderful goodness. Not only is this movie hilarious in spots, the ending is so sweet and perfect.
#2 Claire and Bender’s kiss at the end of The Breakfast Club (Fast Forward to about 2:25)
My love of Judd Nelson when I first discovered this movie was epic. EPIC, I tell you. I loved his earring. Hot, hot, hot when he gives it to Claire. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make a scene unbelievably sexy and Bender giving Claire his earring and closing it in her hand is a perfect reminder of that.
#2 Keith and Watts’ kiss at the end of Some Kind of Wonderful
I’ll admit, this is not a movie I love. I like it, but I’ve rewatched it several times for only two reasons. Eric Stoltz in his prime of hotness and THIS KISS. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching it. The music, the setup (best friends who become more, swoon!), the kiss itself…pure movie magic. Inspiration at its best.

I would absolutely have to agree with the kiss from “The Breakfast Club.” The princess and the bad-ass rebel? Always a winning combination! It’s bittersweet too since you know that it’s just this one day, this one moment, and that they most likely go back to their different lives.
My favorite movie kiss has to be from SIXTEEN CANDLES too. I watch it every chance I get. I have always enjoyed Molly Ringwald’s movies. I really miss those teenage movies from the ’80s. Thanks for the chance to win.

Not an 80s movie, but the BEST movie kiss is Aragorn and Arwen in Return of the King. I saw the movie 4 times for that kiss.
Yeah, I agree with you about the kiss in Some Kind of Wonderful. It’s perfect. I also love the 16 Candles kiss.

I haven’t seen a bunch of the 80’s movies that are listed here but I’d have to agree with MJ on the kiss between Aragorn and Arwen in Return of the King. Makes me melt every time I see it.

Secret Admirer – Michael and Toni’s kiss in the the last scene of the movie, when she jumps from the boat and he jumps from the pier and they finally kiss in the water… I used to watch it with my BFF after school… Love it!
I am not good at thinking of movie kisses either, I prefer books to movies or tv. However, some that jumps out of my memory would be from Dirty Dancing and Ghost. I did love those movies when I was younger.
I love 80’s movies. I always turn to my favourites when in a glum mood. And those are: Dirty Dancing, Grease 2 and Ghost. And all those movies have kisses in them as well :)

Speaking strictly of favorite movie kisses from the 80s, all the ones already mentioned. One not mentioned is Alyssa Milano and Chris Young in Dance Til Dawn. Night of the prom and popular girl Shelley has broken up with her boyfriend so she is dateless and ends up hanging out with the hot nerd all night, the next morning in front of all the “cool” kids she announce they are going steady now and they kiss.
I’m going with Dirty Dancing too. Was my favorite movie growing up. But there’s also Shag and Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun that come to mind.
I’ll take Johnny Castle any day of the week though!

I heart Jake Ryan! One of my absolute favorite movies to watch.
As for favorite kiss in a movie…the first movie that comes to mind is The Notebook when Noah and Allie kiss on the dock in the rain…yowza! Hot as hell.
I don’t watch a lot of movies but I did love Practical Magic and the kiss at the end between Aiden Quinn and Sandra Bullock would have to be a favorite. Or at least the only one I can think of! LOL!
I’m sure there are many greay movie kisses out there but one that is memorable to me is in The Noteback. It also helps that the cover depicts it.

I am no movie kiss expert. But Mr. and Mrs. Smith was hot! I want to read Provoke Me. It sounds hot.

My fav 80’s movie was breakfast club, and when he kissed her on the table. my other favorite movie kiss is Top Gun with Tom cruise and Kelly McGillis. That whole scene was great.

To be honest, I spent a good portion of the 80s dazed and confused. BTW, were there any kssing scenes in that movie? :) Anyway, I don;t remember any, but I’d love to win the book. Also – on a different note, I love the quotes on the side bar. Really good choices, esp. Vishous! He’s my fav.

Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe in The Last of the Mohicans – when they are at the fort and the music is playing, and they dance, and then they kiss….. sigh. I can watch that scene any time.
I’m not really a movie person, but the kiss at the end of Music & Lyrics always melts my heart.

Best 80’s movie kiss…Lloyd & Diane from “Say Anything”!!! Great movie, great soundtrack and GREAT first kiss. Hands down. I freakin’ love that movie!! And so begun my lifelong love of shy, nerdy guys :)
Not entering the giveaway, but love the 16 candles & breakfast club. While Some Kind of Wonderful annoys me-you are right about that kiss! I’m so going to have to think about my favorite kisses now! My number one would have to be the Princess Bride when Wesley kisses Buttercup at the beginning of the movie and at the end when she discovers his secret identity.

Oh my gosh, I love the Breakfast Club! I even got my kids watching it! Molly and Judd: Best. Kiss! I’ll definitely go with that one! (Although any kiss that involves Gerard Butler would be right up there, too!!)

As the lovely Taryn Elliott pointed out to me, I screwed up the ending of one of my favorite movies *sob*. Claire gives Bender HER earring, not the other way around. I’ve only seen The Breakfast Club twenty times, makes sense I’d screw it up right? Me thinks another viewing is in order. ;)
