Ghosts, vampires, demons, and more! Entangled includes ten suspense-filled paranormal short stories from such best selling authors such as Cynthia Eden, Jennifer Estep, Edie Ramer, Lori Brighton, Michelle Diener, Misty Evans, Nancy Haddock, Liz Kreger, Dale Mayer, and Michelle Miles, and Allison Brennan. Stacia Kane contributed the foreword. Formatting and cover art were also donated to the project by Lori Devoti and Laura Morrigan. (Goodreads)

All proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

When I was asked to review this I jumped at the chance. My great aunt died from breast cancer and my mom is a cancer survivor. This insidious disease has no boundaries and it affects so many lives when it strikes. The foreword, written by Stacia Kane, brought tears to my eyes as she voiced many of the same thoughts and feelings I have had over the years.

I have read but opted not to write a review for every story in this anthology.

HALLOWEEN FROST by Jennifer Estep. A short story that follows her best selling YA- A Touch Of Frost- Gwen and her friends find that Halloween at Mythos Academy brings a whole new meaning to the words “trick or treat”when they are forced to battle mystical creatures who threaten their lives. A perfect balance of humor and action. RATING: A

THE FAT CAT by Edie Ramer. Set after her novel Cattude, White witch Tory gets more then she bargains for when she adopts an older male cat and ends up battling a warlock for seven womens lives. A cute slightly cheesy story. RATING: C

MEDIUM RARE by Nancy Haddock. St Augustine’s spirits are in an uproar and it’s up to Colleen Cotton and a skeptical paranormal investigator to figure out why and how to stop the evil that’s coming. An engaging romantic suspense with a humorous bite . RATING: B

SWEET DEMON by Misty Evans. When Kali Sweet delivers a warning to the Chicago Vampire King, he demands a high price for her insolence. Kali now has to accept help from the half-human, half-chaos demon who left her at the altar three hundred years ago. Action packed with some romantic tension. Would have liked some more focus o on the romance. RATING: C

SIAN’S SOLUTION by Dale Meyer. A vampire risks her life to save the human she loves from her own kind. A tense romantic suspense filled with deception and betrayal. Ending is abrupt. RATING: C

A BIT OF BITE by Cynthia Eden. A full bodied story that deliciously combines romance and mystery as Sheriff Ava Dushaine and her werewolf lover try to solve who is killing the supernaturals before the blood moon rises. RATING: A

FEEL THE MAGIC by Liz Kreger. When Jessica Manfield contracts Jessica Carmichael for a magical identity change, she gets more then she bargained for when her boss, the DA, and someone from Jessica’s past are doing everything they can to make sure she fails. An inventive story line that touches on trans-species gender reassignment and the pitfalls of regulated magic. RATING: B

BREAKING OUT by Michelle Diener. Imprisoned as part of an unauthorized military experiment, a powerful telekinetic and two other inmates escape, only to find out their battle has just begun. A dark multi layered storyline with a hint of romance and humor. RATING: B

GHOSTLY JUSTICE by Allison Brennan. A Seven Deadly Sins novella. Demon hunters Moira O’Donnell and Rafe Cooper are dragged into the dangerous world predators, magic, and sex when a Jane Doe demands justice from the grave. A dark and gritty novella that expands on Moria and Rafe’s relationship and the Order while once again balancing them on a magical double edged sword. RATING: A

Overall Rating: B

Thanks for breaking this down Tori. Anthologies can always be iffy but it sounds like I’d enjoy most of these books and I really like that the proceeds are being donated.

It’s an all around enjoyable anthology. And yes, the fact that thr proceeds go to cancer research is wonderful.

Hey T, What an awesome way to raise awareness and get donations at the same time. Amazingly, the only author I’ve read from that listing is Cynthia Eden and I love her stuff!
