Eros (aka Cupid) has been sent to Earth to help the humans embrace love and romance, since so many of them have turned to power and lust and have forgotten about love.

High school principal Kira has just been dumped by her long-term boyfriend on the Ferris wheel no less. Sad, she starts to wander around the carnival and happens to run into the “Cupid’s Darts” game. Feeling silly for playing a game, the man (*cough* Eros) talks her into trying to pop a balloon. From here, cupid works his magic so that Kira is introduced to Jesse.

Jesse is a rock star, although Kira doesn’t realize it when she runs into him. Feeling like taking a chance, these two get down and dirty in her car. But when he invites her to his show the next night, and Kira realizes just who Jesse is, she feels like she was just another notch on his bedpost. She runs away, but cupid has already had a hand in their lives.

GunShy is a cute, very short novella. Because of cupid’s involvement in the love affair of these two, I believed more in their immediate attraction and sexual escapade. Kira is coming off a two year relationship, and sleeps with Jesse the same night she is dumped. Well alrighty then. But like I said, I bought into. These two have chemistry and I think the author writes their love scenes very sexy indeed.

I do wish the two of them would have had a little more page time together. After Kira thinks Jesse used her just for sex, they spend a long time apart. But in the end it is a sweet story and I think the idea for this series is cute.

Sounds like a fun short read. But breaking up in the Ferris Wheel! I would have kicked him out ;)
