Smexy’s Top Ten–November 18th

November 18, 2011 by Mandi 30 Comments

10. Is Thanksgiving really next week? o_O.  Which means the week after that is our Breakfast with Santa and trip to the tree farm. *sweats* Must get into holiday mode! Maybe if I dress my pug like the one above, we can get into the Christmas spirit. Also, why is it so easy to make pugs look like idiots? LOLOLOL.

9. The blog, All Things Urban Fantasy (which has a fab new design by the way) is hosting its annual, Cover Art Awards. You can nominate covers from a vareity of different categories  – for example: Best male cover, best male with animal cover, best anthology cover, best debut cover..just to name a few. If you have a hard time thinking of covers like me, you can go here – to see covers throughout the year. I believe nominations close this Sunday. Go HERE for all the information.

8. Cover Alert! Confessions from an Arranged Marriage by Miranda Neville, coming out March 2012. I read her last book, The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to this!

Tiger Eye (Dirk & Steele, #1)7. Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu, book one in her Dirk and Steel series is free right now on Kindle and Nook. I have read this series, or this author, but I know Tori is a fan of some of her books.

Ava March's Men Under The Mistetoe6. The four authors of the Men Under the Mistletoe anthology (which is a great collection of m/m stories! I also love staring at the cover *ahem*) is having a little scavenger hunt through December 2nd. Read each of their excerpts and fill out the entry form at each website. Go HERE for all information. Up for grabs…a $100 giftcard!

5. I’m sure everyone has seen this by now, but just in case, above is the official trailer for The Hunter Games, out March 23rd. I like what I see so far. The very end when Katniss and gang are running full out for the gear gave me a shiver. For whatever reason, I resisted reading these books until this past summer, but once I did – I loved them sooo much. I pretty much made all friends and family read them too. It will be fun to go to the movies with everyone this March!

4. I have a confession to make. *hides* I watched my very first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer this week. Now – don’t start yelling at me! I don’t know why I’ve never seen it – probably because hubs picks the tv shows we watch and well..Buffy isn’t really for him.

When I sat down to play with my new Kindle Fire, I noticed Amazon Prime has Buffy for free – so I seized the opportunity. I  like it so far. I’m two episodes into the first season…so I have a ways to go. But I popped my Buffy cherry – and it felt good y’all.

3. Another trailer – One for the Money based off of the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books. Have you read them? I made it to maybe book five or six in this series. The first couple are really cute…but then I just got a little tired of them. I’m not a huge Katherine Heigl fan but I do think Jason O’Mara is a good fit for Morelli. Comes out in January.

image2. It has become a little tradition for my girlfriends and I to go see the Twilight movies together. Which means, yes, I’ll be seeing Breaking Dawn on Saturday. And yes, I might be bringing Little Eddie and Jacob with me.  I really didn’t like this book so I’m not expecting a lot out of this movie. The one thing that will get me through it is that we are going to a wine bar afterwards. *grins* Last year, we went to the wine bar first, and I may or may not remember actually watching Eclipse. *ahem* Wine bar after is a much better plan. Or maybe..we did have it right last year. LOL.

1. My weekend is full of indoor soccer, basketball practice, Breaking Dawn and the Ravens game. Busy! I’m also sneaking in some time to read the Holiday Kisses anthology and Karma Girl by Jennifer Estep. Happy Friday!

You will love Buffy. I think I loved the Fever Series so much because it reminded me of Buffy (and not in a Moning copies it kind of way), if Giles was, you know, hotter and more dangerous….

Have fun watching BD, I’d watch it for the birth scene, oh I hope they show it in this one and that it is scary.

And yes I am tired of Steph’s men issues, but i still read the books and will watch the movie

I assume little Eddie is the one with the jacket and Jacob is the abs?

I am so looking forward to reading Men Under the Mistletoe. I have a review copy but I have to finish a couple of things first. I am so excited about it.

And yeah, no more Buffy cherry! I love Buffy (and Spike! just wait until you get some Spike!).

I can’t believe your just getting to Buffy. Awesome show…very smexy the last few seasons! Right up your alley.

I’m a huge, mega, super, crazy Janet Evanovich fan! Example: I’ve put off joining facebook for years & I finally just signed up JUST so I could join a “One for the Money” movie FB page contest. I’m such a nerd! Total fangirl!! I read those books over & over. Love them!! You need to read at least up to book eight (that’s when Ranger & Steph do it!). Rawr! I’ve been looking forward to this movie for months even though the cast is kinda iffy. Gonna be there opening day wearin’ my “Rangers Babe” shirt! Told you I was a nerd :)

GO RAVENS!! Hopefully they do better this week! That game against the Steelers was AWESOME!

The Ravens better be awesome this week!!! :)

I hate Katherine Heigl with a passion, I have no idea why, but I do… Thank god I’m not a fan of the Stephanie Plum books because I would be ready to kill the people in charge of casting the role.

I got my ARC of Men Under the Mistletoe last week, but I’m saving it for later since I know I’ll love it and I want to take my time and savor it. The cover is insane, I think the back of the neck is one of the sexiest parts of a man so that cover is like a drool-inducing drug for me (and by drug I mean lady-Viagra) ;)

I don’t hate her – but I’m not fond of her. I also am not invested in these books…now….when casting news comes out for the Fever series – OMG. Pass me the Rolaids now.

Oooh..yesssss…savor it. That cover gives me a lady boner.

    Have a fabulous weekend!!

MANDI!!! How have you not watched Buffy?! Oh enjoy. I LURVED that show sooo much. So dark, twisty, and kick ass.

One for the money: I was FAN GIRL until 7 or 8… held on until 14… now just wish Evanovich would end it. Boring, recycled, make your effing mind up about which man (I’d totes go team Ranger, fyi) and move on. Steph has to be like 45 by now. *eye roll*
THAT SAID: I’m going to the movie. That is one of my favorite books all time!

Breaking Dawn…. (giggle) Have fun. Make fun. drink lots ‘o wine.

Mandi, Mandi, Mandi-I don’t know what to say. No Buffy? Ever? Loved this show. Was totally hot for Angel UNTIL Spike turned up. And the season where Buffy and Spike get buzy….bom chica bom bom!!!! Big time! You’ll have to keep us posted on your progress.

Have never read the Stephanie Plum books, but if her books have as much humor as the movie looks like it does, I would definitely give them a try.

Can’t wait to hear your take on Breaking Dawn. I had lunch with a friend who saw it last night with her daughter. She described the birth scene as “gross” with a few more adjectives, but I’ll leave it at that and not ruin it for you.

    Enjoy your wine!

Now that I’ve picked myself back up off the floor (shock will do that to you), I’m actually quite jealous that you get to experience Buffy for the first time. What I wouldn’t give to go back and enjoy it all again from the start.

Ooo I love that doggy costume!
I do like Marjorie M. Liu, but I have the feeling her books are getting darker and less humor.
I absolutely love the Buffy series. High time for watching some episodes again … Are you going to watch the Angel spinoff next?

I think the only way I am going to see those movies, is when I am drunk. Otherwise, I’ll pass…

Yea for Buffy… I love it!! The comic books are great too. Have you watched Angel? Wait until after the 3rd season of Buffy to watch Angel… that’s where it fits in.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
