Favorite Quote: This is awesome with a side of fuck-yeah fries.

From Goodreads: Working in a wedding cake shop sucks when you’ve just been dumped.
Bailey Frost has a recipe for disaster: one cheating ex, one big glass of liquor, and three well-meaning male friends who think her lack of a sex life is funny. Before she knows it, she’s confessed that she’s never had an orgasm with a man.
Now Bailey has to navigate sappy couples at work, while her friends are hell-bent on helping her get revenge on evil Craig…by dressing up as werewolves, on YouTube.
And one of those friends– the tall, shy-but-gorgeous Linc–might just want to help Bailey with that other little problem…

In a moment of weakness from a somewhat alcohol induced and brokenhearted state, Bailey confesses to her three male friends that she’s never had an orgasm during sex with any man. Unfortunately, her roommates are not too surprised as the walls in the flat are pretty thin and they’d, unfortunately been witness to Bailey’s X lack of, um, stamina in the bedroom. What Bailey doesn’t know, however, is that her good friend Linc has feelings for her.

Linc slowly starts to show his interest by bringing Bailey a gift after her pet rat dies and as Valentine’s Day draws near, he invites Bailey over for dinner. They agree to get together as friends but Linc has other plans. Bailey arrives to find Linc’s flat beautifully decorated in candlelight and when he admits he’s trying to seduce her, she goes with it, and she is not disappointed.

Beautiful Mess is a very cute, sweet, quick, read and I was very impressed that in about 40 pages (by my Nook’s counter) the author is able to tell this story so well. I enjoyed the camaraderie and clear friendship that comes through between Bailey and her two roommates, Olly and Tom, who met and have roomed together since their university days. Linc doesn’t live with them, but works with Olly and spends much time at the flat because of that. And while I adore the friends to lovers theme, I really would have enjoyed watching Linc and Bailey have a bit more time to process their blooming attraction, rather than have it jump to sex so quickly. There is much humor and several one liners that truly brought a smile to my face. Ms. Morgan has a very interesting voice and I look forward to seeing more of her work.

Lovely review, but I am keeping away from short stories for a while.

I adored the story!!! The characters were so lovable and real! I would love to read more about them. One thing I disagree with in the above review, is that they had years to get to know each other…I think the instant sexual chemistry was amazing! I think there was always something there between them. Great read!
