Upon A Midnight Clear by Virgina Kantra

A sweet romantic historical about a fallen angel who needs to marry for money but falls in love with the heiress’s poor relative. Lucian Hartfell is an angel who answers a woman’s dying prayer to save her child during the French Revolution. Lucian disregards the rules of no involvement and loses his place in Heaven for it. He is returned to Earth as a mortal and is raised by the leader of the Fallen. Lucian hated losing his place among the angels and when told he must do make something of his life or be cut off, he declares he will marry an heiress. He finds more then he bargains for when his heiress ends up being a cousin to the little girl, now beautiful woman, he rescued so long ago. Lucian learns the true meaning of love and selflessness on the most magical night of the year. I’ll be honest, I got an extreme deja vu feeling with this story. I can’t help but feel I have read it somewhere in the past.

First Light by Kimberly Frost

An interesting if somewhat confusing novella about an angel and a demon who are joined in a battle to the death. Kate Devane is a journalist who is instrumental in identifying vampire nests. For years she has dreamed of two men and a blood stained ring. When the man from her dreams appears in the flesh, Kate is at a loss-is he friend or foe? Attraction blooms heavily between them, as if they were two halves of one soul. When his reasons for being there are revealed, he will be forced to choose between his mission and their love. The story feels like you have been dropped into the middle of an ongoing arc with no background information to smooth the way. It’s sad, but the villains held more appeal then the good guys.

Human Error-Eileen Wilkes

A fast paced action packed journey back in to the Lupi world when Benedict travels with his beloved mate, Arjenie, to her family’s house to meet them for the first time and to spend Christmas with them. On arrival he meets with a presence that forces his help in stopping an evil determined to destroy all those he loves. Benedict and Arjenie are great together as they strive to convince her family of their love for one another and protect one another. Arjenie still takes no crap from anyone and Benedict’s un human like mannerisms offers up some laughs.

An Inconvenient Mate by Lora Leigh

Lora Leigh takes us back to her sexy breeds with a fast and smoking mating novella. When Coyote Breed Malachi attends a council meeting in Nevada, he never expects to run into his intended mate. Isobel just got out of bad relationship and Malachi looks to be just the right person to help her get back into the saddle again. When Isobel’s ex boyfriend comes back into the picture, Malachi has to use everything he can to save Isobel-even an enemies helping hand.

Though extremely steamy with some nice bed play, I didn’t get a good chemistry between them. I also felt that the sex scenes over powered the plot, leaving some confusion in its wake.

Are these holiday themed at all? With that cover, you think they would be.

The only reason I got this book was because of Kantra’s story, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but the rest were not for me…
