10. My Week – I have been under the weather this week with a cold, sore throat, fever thing. Hubs has moved to the couch and has relocated his toothbrush to the guest bathroom. (Gee, germaphobe, much?) But that’s okay because I’ve had company from my friend Nyquil. He is a lovely fellow. A little bitter to start. His personality is tough to swallow..but after you get to know him, he is so soothing. He let’s me sleep all night, although he leaves me feeling a little funky in the morning. I’m actually good friends with his sister, Dayquil as well. I have a feeling they will be my friends for at least another few days. ;)
9. I finally decided it was time to read K.A. Mitchell. I know, I know..I’m so late to the party. So I started with Collision Course. And wow. First of all, this book is very heavy on the sex. I mean, there is sex in every chapter. And the sex is so, so dirty and written very well…and did I say dirty? DIRTY. Anyway, this amount of sex didn’t annoy me as it may have in other books. There is a great deal of character development throughout the story that shines through. Aaron and Joey are flawed, and have issues and slowly go from lust to love. We learn about their careers and their families and just really enjoyed it. I started No Souvenirs last night…oh Dr. Kim.
8. Cover Alert! Lucky in Love by Jill Shalvis (Lucky Harbor #4) For those that read the previous book, Head Over Heesl – this is “Cute guy’s” book! Love this series. Release this coming May.
And one more – Bear Meets Girl by Shelly Laurenston. I need to read this series! Out this March. (Via All the Days of.)
7. Want to win a Tropical Christmas Beach Bag this chilly December? Head HERE to enter to win a book by both Kate Carlisle and Maureen Child plus other beachy fun.
6. Who needs a free read this weekend? Here we are a couple:
Marry Me by Jo Goodman – Kindle, Nook.
Dangerous Grounds by Shelli Stevens – Kindle, Nook
Bound for the Holidays by Mackenzie McKade – Kindle, Nook
First Frost by Jennifer Estep – Kindle, Nook
5. So I’m pretty obsessed with the show The Walking Dead (on AMC) about a group of people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse We just had the “midseason finale” of season two, as the show will be returning in February. While I think there have been some insane, pretty awesome moments this season (Otis *ahem*), there have also been some very lame, boring moments (Hello, can we please leave the damn farm already?!? And Dale is annoying me like no one’s business) Of course I dig Shane, because let’s face it – he is pure crazy. And Rick..oh Rick. What can I say about him? I think Daisy Harris sums up the season so far perfectly in this post. I love it! My favorite quote from her:
Yeah, everyone wishes Laurie would get eaten by walkers and that Shane would bend Rick over the hood of a camper and take him in a manly fashion.
HAHAHA. So true. Also, the blog Smash Attack Reads! has fun recaps of each episodes (and where I found the above picture). Netflix is streaming season one right now – I definitely recommend it.
4. I need this, right? Who needs to carry a wallet and phone when you can just carry a wine purse? Full of win! (Thanks Amy!)
3. Yesterday was World Aids Day, a day to show support for those living with HIV and to remember those who have died. But you can show support all throughout the year. And one way I do that is to give my support to a couple of people. One, is Samantha Wallace (and yes that is her above with Patrick Dempsy – hey, it pays to be a cyclist!). A fellow book reviewer, for the second year in a row she is going to participate in the Aids Lifecycle ride, where she will ride her bike from San Francisco all the way to LA! A 545 mile ride! You can donate to Samantha’s cause HERE.
Also, for the past six years on December 1st, The Killers have put out a Christmas single, where all proceeds go to the Join(Red) organization that supports Aids research. You can buy their Christmas songs HERE.
And the video of their newest release, The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball. I am of course in love ;)
2. I’ve hit the Christmas shopping hard this week y’all. I spent three hours inside a Toys ‘R Us. Scary, I know. I actually think I’m almost done. Hooray!! Now just to wrap *weeps*. Why is wrapping such a horrid process? Anyway – I wanted to share one of my favorite places to buy gifts. Bonbon Charms. I think they offer such cute, simple designs and many of the pieces can be customized to fit what you need. Everything I have received has been nice quality too.
1. This weekend we go to the local fire station for Breakfast with Santa – one of my favorite traditions! Then we head to the tree farm to get our Christmas tree. Last year we had to chop about 3 feet off the top just so it would fit in our living room, so this year we need to go a bit..smaller. LOL. They never look that big in a field. And of course, I will have to anchor the tree because our cat won’t stay out of it. I think the above little clip sums up my cats perfectly. Happy Friday!
BookaholicCat says
I used yesterday the same click from Simon’s cat on my blog LOL. Our new baby (3 months old kitty) it’s having fun with the tree… too much fun. *cries*
I hope you feel better soon and have fun setting up your tree. :)

OMG! I need to google Shane/Rick fanfiction to see what I find (and let’s add in some Daryl into the mix please)!!! This season has been a bit crazy, I love the show but the first season was way better, and the zombies weren’t as fast and they could smell people which made for very entertaining episodes were the characters had to bathe in zombie in order to go unnoticed, in season two just hiding under the cars will do… Ah well, I still think is one of the most entertaining shows on TV right now. You have to watch One Upon a Time, though, that’s my favorite show right now!
Mandi Schreiner says
Oh yes..add Daryl please!!
You are so right – I didn’t think about hiding under cars vs masking their scent!!!! Geez!!!!

I’d wondered who “Cute Guy” was in the Lucky Harbor series. I hope we still get visits from the sisters and their respective men.
Mandi Schreiner says
Yay for Cute Guy..I think he is ex-marine or something along that line too….

As much as I love Joey and Aaron, my heart belongs to Dr. Jae Sun Kim and his Scuba Cowboy. I think I’ve read it something like 4 times now and it just doesn’t get old.
My other fave KA Mitchell is Regularly Scheduled Life. There is much angst. I. Love.
Jennifer Estep says
I really like the new Killers Christmas song/video. I hope it’s available on Amazon to download.

I’m not in love with the cover for Bear Meets Girl but I’m a big fan of the series. Those books always manage to crack me up.

I am lucky to live in Holland I guess, as each store wrappes your presents, with no extra costs. Wheater throughout the year for a birthday, or for Christmas. It is standard service. Only a few cheap stores don’t, but those usually have a counter with paper you can use yourself.
Marg says
Yay! Excited about new Jill Shalvis. Mind you I haven’t read Head Over Heels yet but there’s still time!
