Smexy’s Top Ten–December 9th

December 9, 2011 by Mandi 49 Comments

10. The Christmas tree is up and hubs and I didn’t even threaten to divorce each other once! Getting the tree to stand upright without falling over in the stand is probably the most stressful 30 minutes of our marriage every year. It also helped that I spiked hubs eggnog prior to doing the tree. The holidays are in full swing.

Diving in Deep (Florida Books, #1)Collision Course (Florida Books, #2)No Souvenirs (Florida Books, #3)

9. This week I finished up the Florida series by KA Mitchell. I really enjoyed all three books. As I said last week, they are heavy on the sex but I think they show such great character development. The chemistry and romance is there too. I just had the best time reading them! They can be read as stand alones, although the characters make appearances in all the books.

I also found out that KA Mitchell has plans for one of Aaron’s brothers (He is from Collision Course, which is my favorite of the three – I LOVE Joey) for the next book! Last night I started her Ohio series, with Regularly Scheduled Life. I’m in love already.

Smooth Talking Stranger (Travises, #3)8. I’ve also been listening for the past few weeks to Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kelypas. I like her historicals but had never read a contemporary by her. Good lord!!! What was I waiting for? Jack Travis melted me. I adore him. I was listening to the book in the grocery store yesterday and could barely concentrate. I have no idea what I bought for dinner – it’s all Jack’s fault. I really enjoyed this one and I definitely recommend you all read or listen to it.(It’s $2.99 on Kindle!) I want to go back and read the other two as well. I want to thank Kati for always talking these books up!

7. Jane from Dear Author, posted this cover on Twitter this week. I mentioned this book a few weeks ago on a past Top Ten – because I find what this book is about so amusing. I believe the hero is a Viking Vampire Angel. I haven’t seen a blurb yet.

And let’s take a moment with the cover. Just how low are his pants??? How the hell are they staying up? Does he have a winkie of steel down there? I suppose a viking, vampire, angel winkie must be something extraordinary.  And how much crack is he showing from behind?

Kiss of Pride, the first in Sandra Hill’s Deadly Angel series is out April 24th. And yes, I will be reading it.

6. News from Lauren Dane – she has a digital novella coming out next year, Laid Open featuring Ben, Todd and Erin from her Brown Siblings series. She just posted the blurb on her site:

All she needed to pack was a few bikinis, a toothbrush and some sunscreen. This is what Ben told Erin when he presented her and Todd with tickets to Fiji and the promise of ten days of nothing but sleeping until whenever they wanted, sex without having to lock the door and lots of alone time.

And that’s what they have. Long days and nights filled with pleasure. Long enough that the stress and exhaustion drops away and the three can simply enjoy each other.

They’ve got heat. More than ever before. Recharging their batteries has also brought new levels of intimacy and connection. But when Erin stumbles over the pain of her past, both men band together to not only help her through, but to help each other as well.

4. My friend Sophia, aka Fiction Vixen introduced me to a phrase yesterday that made me giggle like a 12 year old. “Sofa King” – As in – I’m sofa king awesome. Get it? Say it out loud and sofa king sounds like so fuc…..This amuses me for some reason. Everything now is sofa king!! I’m sofa king happy. I’m sofa king ready for a glass of wine. Barrons is sofa king hot. (Should I keep going? I sofa king should!!!)

3. Damn it! I should have known Santa reads tweets. Jeez Santa, I thought I might be on the naughty list, but the whore list is a little harsh! (link)

2. From Meg Maguire’s blog. Michael Fassbender is Sofa King gorgeous. I agree with her – total lady-boner. Fassbender can bend me over…well..you get the idea. (This is totally why I’m on Santa’s whore list.)

1. This weekend – I think I might start making Christmas cookies. I’m also going to start Colorado Dawn by Kaki Warner (one of my favorite authors) and the m/m/f book by Cari Quinn – Unwrapped. Ooh la la. Happy Friday!

That Sandra Hill cover is too bad! His wings are flapping behind his coat? So his long coat is covering his ass? And yes, how are those trouses staying up? There is sexy, and there is horrible.

That t-shirt is fun, I did catch your conversation on Twitter recently, but did not get the joke then. I do now :)

I have read the first Lisa Kleypas contemporary, and did not like it. The writing style is so different from her historicals, no humor. Very sad story really.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Well, I think the book might be over the top too!

I did hear the first book in that series isn’t as good as Blue Eyed Devil and Strangers…we shall see.

I think “A Regularly Scheduled Life” is a fantastic book but boy, it’s not an emotionally easy book to read… the other one in that series (“Not Knowing Jack”) is also really great, and somewhat less “angsty” than the first one (though still quite angsty in its own right).

I am also a huge fan of the Kleypas contemporaries. I can’t decide whether my favourite is “Smooth talking Stranger” or whether it is the prior one (“Blue Eyed Devil”). They’re both really awesome.

I was so distracted by the strange leather jacket wings combo I totally missed the lowslung groin V pants (my mistake!). Seriously, no way those things are staying up!

Glad you liked the Florida series. One of my all time faves. And I so love Joey. I want to hang out with him all the time.

I sofa king need that t-shirt. Where can I buy it? I told my hubby out our Twitter exchange last night and we so can’t stop doing it. Sofa king addictive! Help, I need an intervention!

No way hubby will agree to this in the theater. Sadly I may need to wait until video. But then I can rewind over and over…

Thx for explaining about the sofa king. I totally missed that in the tweets. Doh! I’m gonna be saying it all day now :)
If you like Smooth Talking Stranger and you like teh angst, I think you will love Blue Eyed Devil. Audio is great and so is the book. I didn’t heart Sugar Daddy as much – I thought it was more women’s fiction. There wasn’t enough romance for me. But plenty others love that one too.
Regularly Scheduled Life and No Souvenirs are my favourite KA Mitchell books. They battle it out and the winner tends to be the most recent re/read. Although Collision Course runs a very close second. How can anyone not love Joey? There is a snippet of Joey and Aaron from the upcoming book on her website you know…

Oh man – the angst in Reg Sched Life is slowly killing me :) And Joey is just..he reminds me a little bit of Cole from Marie Sexton’s Strawberries for Dessert :)

YES!!! Welcome to the Travis fan-club. I was totally shocked at how much I enjoyed Kleypas’s contemporary series. Jack is awesome, but ‘Sugar Daddy’ is amazing!

I really hope Kleypas writes one more Travis book, for Joe Travis (she originally shot the idea down completely, but has since changed the answer on her FAQ page to a ‘strong possibility’. Fingers crossed!)
