Dating The Undead is a delightful, hilarious, tongue in cheek guide for LG’s (living girls) wanting to find an immortal of their dreams. Oh, and what delicious immortals they are. Written by the queens of PNR alpha boys, Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe, their trademark humor and zaniness is stamped on each page. Set up in a style similar to Cosmo magazine, you are offered everything from advice to recipes. Ads for products ranging from Jimmy Chews to Coffin Klein keep the giggles rolling in as you are treated to a plethora of articles ranging from why you may want to date an immortal to how to know if your immortal boyfriend is cheating. Plenty of eye candy will have you drooling as you flip through and I admit to loving the drink and food recipes. I’m going to make me an Angeltini tonight.
Not sure why you would want to date an immortal man? Nine reasons are given in Why, Oh Why, Do We Love The So?
Need some pickup lines to get him to notice you? Sexy Pickup Lines-”Is It Hot In This Dungeon Or Is It YOU?”
Not sure if Angels, Vamps, or demons are your kink? Strangers In The Night give you the 411 on all supernatural species and what they want in a woman.
You found your immortal and now need to get his attention? Fear not LG’s. Laws Of Attraction is a species by species guide of naughty tricks and treats to get his attention and keep it.
An added treat to this how to guide is the first two chapters of Ms. Showalter’s much anticipated The Darkest Seduction, is included. Oh Paris. *happy sigh* Dating The Undead makes a perfect addition to everyone’s PNR shelf.
Today, Gena and Jill have stopped by for a chat about Dating the Undead.
What kind of research did you do for this publication? Any “hands on” research? *wiggling eyebrows* The pictures themselves must have been tough to research I bet. *grins
Gena – Yes, the research for Dating The Undead was extremely tough—dating a few zombies, werewolves and dragons to compare notes, looking at photos again and again and again just to be sure we picked the right ones (cough and later using those photos as screen savers cough)–but we believe in being thorough. It’s for our readers.
Jill – She’s right. Going through hundreds and hundreds of pictures of hot, immortal men, day after day…this was the toughest project I’ve ever worked on. And really, when all was said and done, we deserved an award for our unselfishness. What? We did.
Did any characters from both of your previous novels chime in to offer advice? Like the luscious immortal William?
Gena: I actually wrote an article featuring William, but it didn’t make the final cut. (Here’s a behind the scenes secret. William slept with everyone on staff and a fight broke out. Hence, the cut.) But I’ll be posting this article on my website, as well as the Dating the Undead website later this month (February 2012).
Do you foresee making this a repeating publication? Maybe branch into an immortal/mortal dating service?
Ha ha – a dating service would definitely be fun! We have no plans for more issues, although we never say never—except for those times we do actually say never. A brand new batch of paranormal men would be a blast!
Were there any cat fights that involved hair pulling, name calling, statements claiming you will NEVER work with THIS diva AGAIN, etc…?
Jill – I’ll be happy to answer this for Gena.
Gena – Jill is one of my best friends and I simply can’t think of a time when I ever disagreed with her or didn’t quickly realize she was right all along.
Jill – Thank you, Gena.
Gena (as herself) – Grumble.
Tell us more about “A Kiss is Not Just a Kiss: Immortals We Crave Divulge Their Lip-Smacking Turn ons.” Because I really would like to lip-smack with a few sexy immortals.
Gena: Monroe did all the research on this one, promise. Contrary to rumor, I did NOT walk around the streets, throwing myself at every vampire, zombie, and dragon. Well, not more than a few nights.
Jill: By “few” she means every night for a year.
The phrase “horn condoms” is included in this. Explain while I try to stop giggling.
Let’s just say some things aren’t meant to be touched by LGs (Living Girls) without a little protection and leave it at that. We refuse to mention how the need for horn condoms was discovered…like a swollen hand and a trip to the ER. Nope, we’re not telling.
Does Zombie Jack have a girlfriend? Do you have his phone number?
Zombie Jack is currently adjusting to his newfound popularity with the ladies. He’s certainly done a lot for changing women’s opinions about dating Gena’s favorite undead. But we’re happy to report Jack is currently single …but any LG wishing to turn his head would be better served texting this hot immortal because you know how zombies are about getting off the couch!
What supernatural species leaves you all hot and bothered?
Gena – I adore those funny and sexy couch potatoes – the zombies. There’s something about the challenge of turning a man’s attention from his favorite game on TV to me that has me bringing out my best moves. (And by “moves” I mean saying “Let’s do this!”)
Jill – For me it’s the were-shifters all the way. There’s something very sexy about all that leashed animalistic strength, with a dash of uncontrollable power and yeah… I’m a goner.
If you could have any supernatural attributes, what would they be?
Jill – Sometimes I think it would be fun to possess the Angel ability to read minds…but then I start wondering, “Do I really want to know?” and quickly reevaluate. So I guess I’ll just go with the old standby of Zombie junk food eating without gaining weight.
Gena – I want to be able to forgive and forget like the angels…and (not to steal Jill’s answer—but okay, fine, I’m stealing it–I’d love to eat junk food and not gain a single pound …and exercise without tiring like the wolves…and fly through the clouds like the dragons…and and and …yeah, I could go on forever.
Are there anymore collaborations between the two of you in the works now?
Jill: There’s nothing in the works right now, although we will continue to work together on Author Talk, our mock author interview show at: http://www.authortalk.tv
Gena: What do you mean “mock?”
Thanks so much!
