News from Mandi: I started the week with The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan (see review above) and it was amazing. It sets up her new trilogy due out later this year and I can not wait. I then moved onto the paranormal romance, Fractured Moon by E.R Pierce. I liked the bones of this werewolf story, but I had some issues with the execution. Review to come soon. I then read the m/m romance, College Boys by Daisy Harris which I found verra naughty and smexy. I’ll review that one soon too. I was very excited to read Rough Ride by Keri Ford. I love her voice – very flirty, sexy and just fun contemps. I really liked this one – it has a cranky hero which I loved. Review soon. I read the very quick novella, Improper Relations by Juliana Ross. Erotic, but way too short. Review next week. I adore Mary Balogh and was very excited to hear she has a new seven-book series starting with The Proposal. It is about six men and one woman who have been deeply affected by the Napoleonic War. This one is slow, but still excited for the series. I’m currently reading A Blood Seduction by Pamela Palmer. It has a crazy, somewhat eerie start – I’m not sure what to expect next. Which might be a good thing *grins*
News From Tori: It’s been a slow reading week for me. I have had a busy week with my job and needed to devote a lot of time to it. I’ve also had a major back up of reviews to finish so actually having time to read was a rare occurrence. Stacia Kane’s Chasing Magic gets 5 stars from me and I’ll tell you why in my review which will release closer to it’s release date. Let’s just say that I’m amazed at how well this series continues to evolve. Larissa Ione’s much anticipated Lethal Rider, Thantoes story, is well worth the wait. Action, suspense, romance, and major arc developments makes this a sure fire must have come June. Review to come. Note: Larissa has another Horseman book releasing in November. SQUEEEE. I finished book three is Julie James’s very sexy FBI series-About That Night. You can’t help but fall in love with the hero in here. Kyle Rhodes-billionaire, playboy, twitter terrorist. An adorable romantic contemporary that made me go and purchase the first two books in the series-Practice Makes Perfect & Something About You. Still on a historical reread kick. Reading through Jude Deveraux’s Velvet series. OMGoodness. I forgot just how alpha and slappable the heroes in here were. LOL Velvet Promise remains my favorite though I do enjoy the series as a whole.
News From May: This week I’m up to 4 books read. Getting back into normal reading habits, I hope!
1. The Governess Affair by Courney Milan – amazing. Review with Mandi was posted this week.
2. Too Tempting to Resist started my week off right – a fun historical with review to come very soon. A million times better than first in that series – so glad I gave it a try!
3. Natural Evil by Thea Harrison – awesome novella, stands alone well. I now want a whole novel on these characters and what’s next for them! Strongly recommend it.
4. Coveted by Shawntelle Madison – I thought it was a stand-alone PNR… realized ¾ into it that (duh) it’s a book 1 in UF series that will follow this heroine. Pretty good stuff. Review to come.
News from Helyce: This week I began by reading Under A Vampire Moon by Lynsay Sands. I’ve followed this series since a friend loaned me her books at least two years ago, and I have kept up with it. I classify this series as "paranormal-lite" because the author writes with a lot of humor and her characters get into some pretty funny situations. Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me in the romance department and I really didn’t like the heroine. Review posted earlier this week. Next up, I had the pleasure of reading Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh. I had a hard time with the first half of this book and had set it down to read a few books for review, but settled back into it over last weekend and a bit this week. The second half was much better and I was pulled in as I normally am when reading this series. Lots of stuff happens, great characters and some new information. Review for this will be up closer to it’s release. I am currently reading Karma by Carly Phillips and enjoying it very much. As we return to Serendipity we now get Dare’s story. Both the H/H have had difficult pasts and there is a lot of emotions running through this one. I think Dare will end up being my favorite Barron brother! Not sure whats next for me. I need to catch up on some review writing and then we’ll see! Have a great weekend.
