I only recently discovered Charlotte Stein when someone recommended I read Sheltered, which I really enjoyed. When I started to look at her backlist, I realized most of what she has published is erotic, and I’ve found a few that I really liked (Control, for example.) I’m determined to keep current with her new releases because I think she has a great voice. Make Me didn’t quite do it for me as a few of her others have though.

Maisie has two best friends, Brandon and Tyler and one night, impulsively they all have amazing sex together. But Maisie can’t handle it and disappears for five years. But now that some time has passed, she decides to pay her friends a visit, thinking all will be back to normal. But once she meets up with them, the sexual tension in the room spikes, and she knows there is no going back to ‘normal.’

Maisie is a very sexual person, and she wants both Brandon and Tyler but she also feels a little ashamed of her extreme sexual desires. The author pairs her with one very dominant man, Tyler and Brandon who is very similar to Maisie. He wants dirty things, but likes to be told to do them. He gets turned on by being on the submissive side. Tyler runs the show for awhile, but Maisie does come in at the end to turn the tables on him. She also must come to terms with the relationship Brandon and Tyler have together as she slowly realizes they play together when she isn’t around.

This one just didn’t grab me like some of her other works. Her heroines usually make me laugh as they find their way through these charged up sexual situations. Maisie fell a bit flat for me. And Tyler came across too harsh and cold, rather than dominant and sexy. I also needed more back story for these characters. I needed to see them as best friends, rather than just new lovers. I love a friends to lovers theme, but in this one I feel as if we are only told they are best friends, not really shown it. This one does have very dirty sex in it. I’m talking, top of the list for some of the dirtiest things I have read. I also love that there is some m/m action within the menage. These characters just aren’t my favorite. But I am excited about this author’s voice and will continue to anticipate her new releases.
