Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Did you know this? Well I didn’t until May emailed me this morning. Nothing like a dirty pirate email at 9am to get your day started off right!
When May sent me, The Top Ten Pick Up Lines for Use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, I knew I had to share. We did not come up with these. Go to THIS SITE to see the list and tons of other fun pirate things.
10 . Avast, me proud beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?
9. Have ya ever met a man with a real yardarm?
8. Come on up and see me urchins.
7. Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.
6. I’d love to drop anchor in your lagoon.
5. Pardon me, but would ya mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole?
4. How’d you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?
3. Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.
2. Well blow me down?
And the number one pickup line for use on International Talk Like a Pirate Day is …
1. Prepare to be boarded

Lol, great post Mandi! And I’ve read that Johanna Lindsey book, a very long time ago!
Amanda says
I remember reading Gentle Rogue many years ago and thinking how old the hero was. Now I believe I am actually about his age and the heroine seems so young.
Dreamspinner is having a sale to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day. I am fighting not to give in and buy books because I have a growing tbr list as it is. I have a bad feeling I will lose this battle.

Check out those covers. That is it about a pirate books that necessitates a cheesy cover?

arg! Prepare to be boarded! LOL!
I know Shana Galen has a pretty good pirate book (Rogue Pirate’s bride?) that I reviewed this year, and of course… MICKEY! Best. Pirate. Ever.
I may need to do re-read of his dirtiest scenes… oh but wait! I have some dirty pirate books in my TBR so… *runs and reads*

Great post Mandi! I remember reading the Johanna Lindsay book too some time ago. There may be a re-read session coming soon. :)
Thanks for sharing!

I love this post!! My daughter’s kindergarten teacher came to school dressed as a pirate today. <3

OMG, as Ty would say: that deserves pun penalty!
One that comes in mind is Broken Wing by Judith James. God, that book left me emotionally drained. Thanks for recs, I ordered Jennifer Ashley.
Mara Gillott says
You are awesome. :)

Some of these are just WOW. Who could come up with these?! “I’d love to drop anchor in your lagoon.” and “Pardon me, but would ya mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole?” are just ridiculously hilarious. I also just realized that Jennifer Ashley of the Regency Pirate books is the same Jennifer Ashley who is writing the Highland Pleasures series. *automatic add* plus apparently the the pirates books got a makeover. New cover, new epilogue, new scenes. That’s interesting!
Selena Mc says
LMAO! These are great. I might have to continue Pirate Day through tomorrow so I can use some of these lines :)
Lexi says
These are GREAT! Wish I had seen it before I went to work, I would have used them all day!
Darlene Marshall says
Thanks for the shout-out, Mandi! I love these lines and I always enjoy ITLAP Day. It’s fascinating to me that something which developed ten years ago as a silly idea (and I do suspect alcohol was involved) has grown to be an international phenomenon.
