News From Mandi: Romancing The Holiday anthology out from Carina Press soon is a really cute and sexy collection of stories. HelenKay Dimon writes about a heroine who moves back to West Virginia to help renovate her uncle’s “resort” which she finds out is a rundown camp site. She runs into the man she had a “three-night stand” with months ago, never expecting to see him again. They eventually try a fourth night and a sexy romance comes about. I also really enjoyed Jaci Burton’s contribution. For those that have read her two previous novellas centered around the Kent brothers, this is Tara and Brody’s story. Loved. So sexy. I adore the Kent brothers, and if you haven’t yet, try All She Wants for Christmas or my favorite, A Rare Gift (Adored!). Christie Barth also has a story in this anthology. Hers is best friends to lovers trope, where the hero feels like he should marry another girl for the good of his family’s company. He is a geeky hero which I like, but we don’t’ get to see the two of them really fall in love. The other woman makes too much of a presence. But otherwise I recommend this anthology.
Drive Me Wild by Christine Warren gave me my arrogant alpha fix I was craving. Rafael is the head Jaguar shifter and I loved him. He falls for a witch, and some drama ensues. This book is very sexy. Quick fun read that I recommend.
I also recommend Grease Monkey Jive by Ainslie Paton. Recommended to me by Jane from Dear Author, this is about a playboy car mechanic who falls for a ballroom dance instructor. She is also competing on a ballroom dance competition show. As I read it felt like I was watching a romance movie. Really well done characters, slow to build romance, and a ton of angst at the end. It’s a long one, but I like that the author took so much time to build everything up. I’ll review it next week.
I’m currently reading and devouring Steel’s Edge by Ilona Andrews. Really enjoying so far. We will have a joint discussion on this one coming up soon.
News From May: This week I read Steel’s Edge by Ilona Andrews. It ruled. I loved the strong UF vibe that the story had and how much we got to see of Jack and George. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that!
I hope to read more this next week but between Christmas parties and shopping and all the hoopla who knows!
Tori News: The Thanksgiving week kicked my arse. I was sick, the kid was crabby, and my husband held a week long party outside with his friends aka the losers. *sigh* So last week was my “recover from TG week” week. :)
I decided since Mandi won’t let me write single sentence reviews, I’m going to do it here today because NO ONE CAN STOP ME!!!!! Bwahahahahaha. *cough-choke-cough* Sorry, not quite over my cold.
